Can anyone make a pressure pot recommendation?

I'm planning on getting a pressure pot for casting. I've looked at a few paint pots, but wondered if there was one out there that was less tall than it was wide. Most of the casting that I do wouldn't take advantage of any excess height.

Can anyone make a recommendation?

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand. You don't put the cast in a pressure pot, you put in the batch of resin and remove bubbles from it. So yeah... If that's what you mean, any pressure pot can hold any size of buckets quite snugly.

For anything else, you can even make one yourself pretty cheaply. Tonnes of resources on the Net that explains it better than I could. You could even get any dimension you want. Well made DIY equipment is really lovely, I built my own vaccuforming machine for less than $60 (I had my Ex's electric patio heaters, so I kinda cheated with my budget) but it's wonderful.

You're thinking of vacuum degassing. The OP is asking about pressure casting.

Lots of DIY options for vacuum, but not for pressure. A pressure vessel has to withstand incredible amounts of pressure, so it doesn't lend itself to a homemade approach. Most casting is done with pots made for spray painting and are made to fit paint cans and buckets, so they tend to be taller than they are wide. Even pressure pots sold for casting are modified painting pots. You can get the most of the shape by making a rack that will hold two or more tiers of molds, depending on how tall the pot is.

I recommend the Grizzly paint pots as having the most bang for the buck, here's my thread on the conversion http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=184777

I own two Grizzly pots. I love them.

Had one of the Harbor Freight pots and the top eventually was ruined from regular use. I would avoid getting the H.F. pots, they don't lock up as safely as the Grizzly pots. Eventually, the H.F. pot began to scare the hell out of me.

When I lock down a Grizzly pot, I feel safe about it.
