Camtono advice

So I recently found a Hamilton Beach ice cream machine, the same model carried by Willrow Hood in Cloud City. I'm trying to decide if I should keep it unmodified, like Willrow's, or if I should modify it to a more modern-screen-accurate camtono. I haven't seen anyone modify an actual ice cream machine, so I was wondering if anyone has advice on the best way to do it, if there's online directions, or whatever. Or, should I hang on to it in the hope some more motivated prop-maker might want to buy it?

The Hamilton beach isn’t actually screen used model, but is very close, and already comes in white.

The correct make/model was dolly madison, but the drum is red/black and has a wood grain effect. In my personal opinion the Hamilton makes for a better prop.

Other than painting it white (bespin) or grey (dagobah x-wing scene) I don’t believe it was modified in the films.

The one seen in the mandalorian was done specifically for the show, so is different/an idolised version of the original found item.

Buts it’s entirely up to you. If you wanted a cross between the two, to add a more in universe look, which I would do if it were me is add some rocker switch, lights and pannels with styrene sheet to the side.

There is some great info on this thread:

Correct bespin ice cream maker found

Which I hope helps and I’ll look forward to seeing what you do.

Hamilton Beach also has a different look to the grill at the top. Here's the original:

Plus it looks like the big 6 quart version rather than the smaller 4 quart version. I bought a Hamilton Beach, but mine is 4 quart. Still looks nice as it is though.

I have the Hamilton Beach as well and cut out the doors and modified the top and was working on the button panel when I got to Celebration and got to see the real thing. So trying to replicate the hinges, but want to use servos so it can open and close under power. The park version is pretty close to the same size. It is a great reference, but I am not sure if I will steal the hinges from it or not. Probab;y not. If I can use it as a reference and then resell it when I am done, it seems like a better outcome. The interior supports and structure are more involved than I had expected, but it’s been a fun prop to work on. I like the Camtono version more than the straight ice cream maker, by far.
