I just got back from the Samuel L. Jackson tribute event in Beverly Hills which was unbelievably exciting. I know several LA-based troopers and The Wook have done this type of red carpet and TV thing before, but this was a first for me and it made for a pretty neat weekend. Lucasfilm cast me as C-3PO and Vince Sanchez' R2D2 to be presenters at the Sam Jackson American Cinematheque Tribute award.
Before the show we walked the red carpet and shot some TV interviews. Tom Kane had previously recorded the Threepio voiceover so when R2 and I appeared on stage, we argued back and forth, talked a little about Sam and what it was like to work with him on Star Wars, then we introduced a clip.
Back in the green room (which was about 14' x 14') I stayed in character for George Lucas, Sam Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Vin Diesel, Denzel Washington, Sharon Stone, George Lopez and Kerry Washington. It's fun to see movie stars turn into fans.
I can't even remember what Sam said because when he came in, George Lucas and he flanked me and the three of us did an taped interview together. My brain pretty much melted at that point.
