BZP-IRONMAN Build

Took the plunge and wrapped myself in duct tape to make the display / work form. Sure makes the armor look better than just laying on a chair! Got one of the shoulders done tonite, but it didn't make the photo. Hope to be close to complete by the weekend to start the finishing / painting effort.

Lookin good, doing the same build myself just havent put time into taking the pictures. I should soon. Keep up the good work, cant wait to see the finished product.

Yeah… I was looking it over and you're right about the top piece, might have to incorporate it in my build. Speaking of spine, it looks like there should be an "articulated spine" running up the middle of the back, but I don't see any templates for that piece. I have seen it on some reference models for IM, but not sure if I should run with it. Thoughts?

pm me your email and i'll send you the file for the spine i used mate

Alright IronMan fans! Latest photo update… wait for it… two shoulder caps! Woot!

Also, a little construction tip for getting nice tight seams and proper angled cuts on your foam builds:

The whole suit up until the right shoulder cap I've been using a Dremel tool to make the bevels on the edges. A bit tedious but nice tight seams. Last night I grabbed a heavy duty set of scissors and tried cutting the angle first and then touching up the edge with the Dremel afterwards. A LOT FASTER. Did the second shoulder cap in half the time.

Looks like this suit will get done much faster now! Hurray!

So anyone know what the best color is for the Mark IV? I've heard Barcelona red, but I checked it out at the auto store and it's way to orange. Any other ideas?

I used citroen wicked red on my build from Halfords here in UK, gave my armour a real nice deep red colour to it

Awesome work man(y)thumbsup

Hey Doc!

Thanks for the look! Been watching your thread with keen interest. In addition to the build, I like the finish you've achieved. Most likely will use your finishing technique. Having issues finding the Krylon Triple Glaze though since they recalled it due to leaking cans. Know of another alternative (off the shelf) that will work just as well?
