The next and one of the final outer detail jobs, are the mechanicals under the top engine cowling. Surprisingly easy to replicate, once I stopped to study it.

Here's a reference photo from the screen-used prop.

Again, lots of leftover materials used, but I had to buy a length of PVC pipe that was a specific diameter that I didn't have. My next door neighbour gave me a heap of old 50mm pipe. Design work chicken scratches on a bit of old ply, after using a tape measure up on the engine and my blurry MkI eyeball. Gets the job done.

Thanks to my friends Tony Celliers of Dynamic Digital Creations for the 3D file, and Mark T from Tharwa Valley Forge for modifying said file, then CNC routing it out of a random bit of biscuit-joined wood. After a glue together and clean-up, it painted to look pretty darned good.

There were a couple of ergonomics in the 3D cad, that translated to shapes my eye could not accept in the real. This week, I layered on some more foam on top of the nose, to correct the drop from the cockpit firewall to about half way down the nose. I also got rid of a ledge on the top that shouldn’t have been there.

I got the top engine and top wing back on today, now with the engine mechanical installed. Final detailing can be done while it's up there.

I absolutely love the C-Cor RF amplifier sitting at the back, as someone who works in the cable industry it's funny to see what I work with as part of a spacecraft, It's just a shame someone beat me to the identification!

The Viper has been dismantled and packed away in storage for completion at a later date.

Right now, I have to build two extra rooms and a new shed/workshop for my growing family and my creative needs.

Once they are done I will resume the full scale Viper build.
