Building The Death Star - PRODUCTION

One of the best threads on the RPF has been too quiet, Rob. :(

But I understand. :)

And I'm looking forward to the updates!

Pretty sure...

Is this the best version of this image you guys have available?

I only ask because there is a very high resolution version in the programme from the Star Wars concert that was held in London the other week. Especially of the dish section.

Just thought I'd let you know.

If you can gain access to it, I'd be grateful.

Dude, don't I kinow it!

Here's the latest. I know photo-extrapolation is less than perfect, but it sure seems I need to move the plastic band to the left. I is attached at the top, but not on the bottom yet.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend a laser level. You really can't trust a photo. Who knows what kind of lens or light distortion is going on?

I can host the file if you can send it to me.

Send me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. I'll have to use winrar to split the file to beat my e-mail attachment limit, but I can do this this afternoon. I'll send it as soon as I get your details.

The reason I kept it so big is to keep as much quality as possible. I scanned at 600 dpi, and the file in its unaltered state was well over 100 MB. I compressed it as much as I felt comfortable. It is probably overkill I know, and there is likely redundant information. Not being an expert in this area I'd rather leave it and let you guys decide.

Once you guys get it you can compress and manipulate it all you want.

Hi Dpp1978,

Flickr Is an excellent free site. You can upgrade capacity for a fee, but probably wouldn't need to. Upload images there and share it out. Folks will have the option of grabbing a resolution size that meets their bandwidth limitations.

Ok, cheers for that.

File size limit is 10 MB so I made it smaller. Search Dpp1978 on flickr and it should be there. The biggest version I can find on the site is 1024x742, which is much smaller than the file I uploaded.

At the least it gives an idea of what the image is. The scan is of a quarter of the whole double page spread, but most of the rest is covered in other photos. This was as much as I could fit on the scanner.

The bigger one is still available should you want it. If TriCloudwalker still wants to host it I'm still more than willing to send it to him.

Of course as it is PHArchivists thread, and he is the one who could probably make best use of it I'll happily send the big file to him as well.

Let me know what you guys think, and if you are still interested.

Would love to see it. Hi-res shots of the dish/sphere mating are rare, and now impossible to get new shots asthe original dish is long gone, and the replacement is structured differently.

Email is PHarchivist@aol.com
