Building a Star Trek Klingon Mining Rifle

This has been a prop I've wanted for a number of years and finally decided to quit looking and just build it. So I got a lot reference photos from buddahaid, and began my adventure.

Here is a photo of the original prop

I began by finding a vintage Super Soaker watergun bottle, and PVC tubes, machining holes for the tubes and ribs. I used a glue gun around the tubes/bracket to simulate stick welds

Next I made the buttstock, buttpad, and started on the grip, adding ribs from styrene to a wood frame

Everything primed, and more accurate/thicker buttpad

Next I made the housing for the barrels. This is made from sheet metal, and thick clear acrylic

Now everything starts to come together with the addition of the grip. There was a lot of work here, making it the same on both sides, screws, bondo, and styene

Then I added some details to match the original. Here is a how it looked prior to it's first coat of red primer. You'll also notice the simulated welding with hot glue on the clear part.

And the final shots of it in red primer. I'm stuck until I get a few more detail pieces. Then the fun part begins, making it look dirty and worn!

Thanks! Possibly, they don't look too bad to make. I need to research them some more though.

I almost missed this one. It looks fantatic! I really like how clean you build your projects. mine are always messy....lol It rocks man....:thumbsup

Thanks for all the positive comments! It was a lot of work but I'm really happy with how it came out. Final pieces should be here later this week! Hopefully I can finish it this weekend and put it to bed.

Excellent build. Screen-worthy I've always loved the aesthetic of the Klingon props. Weather them is so much fun!

I finally got the side greeblies done and took some final pics. I'm only missing 1 detail, the medallion on the bottom. If I don't find what it is, then I supposed I'll scratchbuild it. Anyway, here is how it sits today.
