Just completed this sizable commission for a Discovery Starfleet EVA Emergency Survival Pack.

This was in Burnham’s Red Angel suit on arriving in the distant future.
Quite a challenging and rewarding build in the end. I was asked to make the case into a display stand, much like the photo circulating from, I believe, a cruise prop exhibit. The pack contains:
- Discovery hero Communicator.
- Discovery hero Tricorder.
- Space for client’s own QMx badge.
- Semi-hero Discovery Phaser.
- Emergency rations.
As this was such a large job, I thought I could save time by purchasing the 3D print files for the Phaser & Comm from 3DTechDesign. However, when I set to hollowing them out, I found myself noticing things that needed bringing more in line with the production-made reference I was using. It started with the phaser emitter needing 5 sets of ribs rather than 4, then the way the P1 lines up at the front and back. In the end, I rebuilt the entire upper phaser from scratch and a couple small areas on the grip section, and made a whole new P1. The grip shape is mostly original, though.
For the Tricorder, I updated my print model for resin, and modelled the ration pucks and display case.
Again, to save time, Graham Andersen was able to hook me up with the comm screen animation and create one from scratch for the tricorder screen for me.
All in all really pleased with how this came out. This was my first build of a Disco phaser and I have to say It was hard to mail this one away, as I really want one for myself now.
