So after months of searching and weeks of preparations and building to get a thread started on a good note, I'm finally ready to share my build with therpf. I'm building my favorite Jaeger from Pacific Rim "Striker Eureka". Before I go on to pic dumping, first, I'd like to give some honorable mentions.

laellee for everything. If not for him, none of this would have happened.
dbsamurai for the inspiration with his work on Gipsy Danger and Cherno Alpha
Glitch 5092 for the pep files.

And now, onto my build.

First off, not a lot of reference pics are available of Striker Eureka since art is inconsistent and movie screenshots are too dark to get any details. So here is my biggest reference piece

You'll be seeing this Striker Eureka figure a lot.

Now for Striker Eureka's most complicated and memorable part, the conn pod. I was so lucky it was scaled correctly the first time because it is one of the most difficult pep files I have ever done. Definitely not for the faint of heart. But the result is worth all the work

Ear pods

Escape pods on the back of the head

A little closer look at the ear pods

The inside of the helmet

You may have noticed some parts between the ear pods disappear every now and then. That would be from this. The helmet file came with a removable chin/head support so the helmet doesnt slide off your face

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for, the test fit!

Well that should just about do it to start this thread off. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

The helmet isnt the only thing I pep'd. I've already done a forearm. Pics are in next post.

Hope you guys like it

Now for that forearm. This was probably the easiest pep build I've ever done. A total of 3 hours to trace, cut, fold and glue everything.

And now for a test fit

Fits pretty snugly. Not too loose or tight

I suppose I was lucky to hit a problem this late in my build. The forearm is out of human proportions and is a little bit long on the elbow bend area. I can only bend my elbow greater than 90 degrees, so thats going to need some work. No big deal
1396115795001.35.jpg
But it still looks great
1396115821734.36.jpg
Sticking my hand through did tear the paper a little, but hardly a problem

NEXT UPDATE:
Going to pep out the sting blades. Files have already been printed out. Just need to trace them now before I start putting it together.

Damn I'm good

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

Awesomeness!
I would suggest cutting down the front opening of the forearm to fit your arm after you harden it (fibreglass etc)
that way you should be able to bend your elbow and get your hand through and and you shouldn't lose any details.

I thought about doing that actually. And lining the inside with thin foam for both comfort and fitting. Later In plan on adding lights and a system for retractable sting blades

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

Not much of an update today. I only had 45 mins to kill before going off to work. I was able to bang out part of the outer forearm where the sting blades are hidden. It may look small right now, but it should be a lot bigger once complete. I used the measurements of the blades to get a size for the whole thing. I made the longest blade 410 mm, which is really long.

Here is how it looks against the forearm I already built.

I hope to make the blades auto retractable instead of spring loaded. I'm welcome to any ideas. Anyway, the blades should be completed sometime this week. Stay tuned

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

Got a lot more work done on the sting blades today. You can actually tell what part of the Jaeger it is. Its a really complex part of the Jaeger. I would have more done if not for the extreme difficulty of it. Glue tabs are so tiny...but I'm still happy with it

1396329077954.2.jpg
1396329085985.3.jpg
At first I was doubting I made this section large enough in pepakura. But after placing it with the forearm I already built, I think I'm okay
1396329115515.4.jpg
My goal right here. Its a tough one, but one I have no hesitation at attempting. I do think I have the base structure just about right.

I'll have another update for you guys tomorrow :)

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

I got a ton of work done in just a few short hours. I'm about 85% done with the whole left forearm, sting blades and all. Speaking of sting blades, I finally got those pep'd out. I gotta say, its not easy making knife like objects out of pep. Those blade tips were a nightmare. Plus my hot glue gun was being weird today and dried in like 2 seconds. I'd apply glue and it would dry before I even stick on the tab. But overall, I think it went well.

Here are the blades, and they are HUGE
1396416612292.9.jpg
1396416619581.10.jpg
1396416627743.11.jpg
Just to give you all an idea of how large they are. They're like 2 large kitchen knives
1396416565432.6.jpg
Next to one foot. Yea they're over a foot long
1396416584642.7.jpg

Another piece I pep'd out today, the part of the forearm where the blades are mounted
1396416604364.8.jpg
Here is how it looks so far with all the pieces I made so far all together
1396416502575.1.jpg
1396416510287.2.jpg
1396416516571.3.jpg
1396416526257.4.jpg
1396416538063.5.jpg

Alright that just about does it for this update. Only have 2 more small pieces to pep before this forearm is complete. I'll finish that up and do a test fit soon, so stick around! :)

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

Sorry everyone, I don't really have an update today since my schedule nor the next few days is packed tight. But I'll always make time to say something on this thread. Thank you all so much for the support, especially the creator of the files, Glitch 5092.

Since I didn't have time to take new pictures, I'll just give you guys a peek at whats next.

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

I have to agree.. Striker is my favorite and am looking forward to this.
Do you have a link to all of the files?
I dont know if the files are open for public use yet since they're incomplete. Files dont have the boots, chest or wings. I think you should ask Glitch 5092

Re: Building a Jaeger: Striker Eureka (Pic Heavy)

Ill be doing a test fit of the complete raw pep forearm tonight. You dont want to miss that
