BTTF II Marty Jr t-shirt???

Hey guys. Well here's my first trial Marty Jr. shirt. It doesn't have that puffy look, but I'm not even all that sure if the one in the movie is puffy or if it's just the way his shirt is folding at the time...:/ anyhow, here's some pics with and without the jacket.

Thats cool. Is this for a con?

Yeah, well that too. Toronto FanExpo in August. Christopher Lloyd's expected to be there

I'm gonna make a few more of these shirts though if anyone's interested feel free to let me know. The first few shirts will be "test" samples, so they might not all be the same process, but I'll make sure to get pics of each shirt.

That looks really good. Is it just screen printed?

Well if by "screen" you mean hand, and by "printed" you mean painted... then yes lol. I made a great big stencil and painted this on and then went over it with a clear water resistaant glaze so the paint doesn't wash off in the wash. The edges aren't perfectly smooth, but it doesn't show unless you see it close up. I'll try some screen printed ones as well. But I'm pretty happy with this as my first attempt. And thanks btw :)

Sounds and looks like it might be flocking, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flocking_(texture) which uses an electrical charge to apply fibers to a special ink or glue applied by screen printing.

Not terribly common these days, but many commercial printers have the equipment to do it. Setup will likely not be cheap for a one-off.

Hey. Yeah I've used flocking before in a college course. I was thinking the same thing about how that could give it the right look. I'm a bit worried that it wouldn't stay on very long though. For example... those cheep "fuzzy" little pencil end animals or some old style Christmas tree ornaments use flocking, and they go bald quickly :S Maybe it would stick better to shirt material than it does to plastic, but it's hard to tell. If I had access to a flocking gun I would try it. But it's good to know someone else was on the same track. Maybe it's worth looking into. However it's bad to breath in the powder. It's probably asbestos or something :S lol.

I still think the print on the shirt is puff paint but a flocked version would also work.

So I bought some silver fabric paint yesterday and I'm trying it out now. I don't think it went well judging by how it sprayed out of the can :S

It's a Lucasfilm production made shirt. It was only made for Lucasfilm employees working on the movie.I believe this is the closest thing to an actual prop shirt! :cool
