I've read that it wasn't just Stoltz performance that wasn't working, that the whole tone of the film wasn't working. That they decided the whole film just needed to be funnier than it was looking and feeling.
I'd love to see the 4 weeks worth of shooting with Stoltz. Always been curious about it.
Always feel bad for Stoltz over this. Sad part is, he's actually a good actor. He's done some great movies of his own... Although I've been a Michael J Fox fan since season one of Family Ties.
Just prior to the blu ray release, several Stoltz clips were posted online. I thought they were going to be in the set, so I didn't try to find a way to save the files...but it turned out they were temporary promotional postings and went away...and were not in the set.
