BTTF 1 - found: George McFly's 1955 alarm clock; searching for: his 1955 wristwatch

Re: BTTF 1 - found: George McFly's 1955 alarm clock; searching for: his 1955 wristwat

hey Roland, sorry I didnt see this earlier.
I think you are close with your watch and after the other screen caps I see what you are talking about with the numbers. The reason I say you are close is because it looks as though on the screen used watch there is no stitching around the band.
Also, it appears as though the tab on the side of the watch, to wind or adjust the time is much larger on georges watch.
I think it is very very close, but not identical.

Yes, you're right, the band is absolutely inaccurate. Too bright, wrong pattern, stitching around it ... but I don't think it's a problem to find one which is more similar to the screen used one. When I bought it, the watch itself was more important to me than the band.

You mean the crown? I hope you didn't compare it with the second screen cap on my photo collage. On that screen cap the contours of the watch are blured because George is moving his arm. So the crown appears much larger than it actually is. The crown doesn't seem to be that large on the screen cap with George's watch on the night stand.

I don't think I will ever find the correct type of that watch, because the screen caps are too bad. So I'm quite happy if it's very close to the screen used one. :)

:lol I am just in awe at the length you guys go to get every background prop there was in a film :lol
Post photos of how you display this stuff.
I am so curious how you incorporated them into a BTTF display :)

Oh you know I get every background characters for my toy story collection. I guess BTTF deserves the same attention :p

I'll take a little picture when I'll receive all of the books xD!

Not bad. But there are two things that bother me: George's watch has no edge at the end of the band holders. It's difficult to describe, so look at the green marks on my picture. And the second thing is: his watch has two lines of text on the face - one line above the center and one line below.

Of course not every single background prop. But George's nightstand is something different: here you have the chance to imitate a complete scene of the movie. And how to display it? On a real nightstand of course! Just have to find a screen accurate one. :D

Damn you stole my display idea!!!! XD

And yup you're right about the watch! Err, I can't find any Pierpont watch like yours though! It's so frustrating!!!

Re: BTTF 1 - found: George McFly's 1955 alarm clock; searching for: his 1955 wristwat

I know what you mean! :lol

By the way: any ideas about the nightstand? Does anyone recognize the correct type?

Yup I've been looking for this, but can't find anything :x!
Will do some more researches :x

Re: BTTF 1 - found: George McFly's 1955 alarm clock; searching for: his 1955 wristwat

It looks to be more like a end table for some reasons :x!

It's far too small even for an end table. And it's directly next to George's bed (you can see the pillow in the left upper corner of the screen cap), so I'm sure it's a nightstand. Of course, if you can find an end table that looks exactly the same and has the correct size, it's good, too. :)

Re: BTTF 1 - found: George McFly's 1955 alarm clock; searching for: his 1955 wristwat

What would be the exact correct size according to you?

Detecting the exact size is difficult, but the waves on the edges of the nightstand are a good starting point to take the measurements. We can't see the right end of the nightstand, but I think the nightstand (or whatever it is) is exactly quadratic with 4 waves on each side. In accordance with the size of the "Danbury Rodd" book (which is exactly 19.3 cm) under the wallet, the nightstand must be something around 22 inches or 55 cm.

Maybe you're right with your end table. I actually have a small, very dark brown IKEA table at home which has the exact size of 55 x 55 cm. I'll consider building the wavy edges myself. :)

Yes, there are tiny end tables, that's why :) I've seen some stuff quite similar but nothing that could be close enough for it ^^

I think it has to be rectangular too no? Something like 50x30 cm

Like this one:

Might be the best one I found so far xD

Rectangular would mean the waves on the left and the (not visible) right side of the screen used table are smaller than the waves on the two other sides (front and back). I don't think so. It wouldn't make sense. I'm pretty sure, the top of the table must be a perfect square. It looks rectangular on the screen due to the angle, in which it was filmed.

The table on your pic looks more like a square. 50 x 50 cm or 30 x 30 cm. Why do you think it's 50 x 30 cm?

The one on the picture is a rectangle: 40x49

Maybe you're right, looked to be a rectangle from the point of view ^^"

I just thought the waves could have been done a bit differently so there are the same exact number of waves on each side ^^'
Like the waves on the front look to be more "extended" than the ones on the sides. I know that the point of view could play a role on this, but I don't know, I'm just trying to suppose different things..

How tall is it meant to be? Any ideas?

Okay, I don't want to exclude that possibility. I'm open to conviction. :)

Tall enough to give us a view to his pillow. :lol

If I could find a table or nightstand whose top looks like the screen used one, the height of that thing wouldn't be much important. ;)
