BSG - If you can't buy it, make it!

attachment.php

The wall speakers/ intercoms are unit: US Navy Intercom Station LS-386.
The unit I have is missing the metal tag seen on the lower left next to the wall attachment bolt (and below the handset connector).

Thanks a bunch for the information, mgoob!

Found the technical manual online - "ARMY AUDIO EQUIPMENT Technical Manuals TM 11-5830-258-14", however, it's on a CD-ROM that goes for $17.

Here's the link if you're interested:

Here's a link to the sample Technical Manual (too bad the pages that include the information about the LS-386 are intentionally missing):

Nice find, Oldzey.

Now if only we can locate an actual LS-386! (or resin copies... :love)

I have one of the handsets but the base must be custom made. Also the resin units must just be stunt props because all the close up phones seem to be black.

Hey guys. Great work. Very impressive research. I don't come here often, but would love you guys to carry this conversation on at our forum, where there are tons of BSG fans who also would love your replicas.

If there is anything i can do to help, let me know.

This intercom is also known as a IC-KAA , but i have found only this info under that name.

Thanks for the kind words and for stopping in, Alec!

It sure was a fun time watching the auction!

Nice find on the IC-KAA there moff man!:thumbsup

Looks like some minor differences between all three images but pretty darn close:

The IC-KAA is pretty similar, but the LS-386 is still clearly the right one for the prop.
Besides all the little differences (different levers, no red lights, longer side bars) the casing is not the same as the BSG prop.
The only differences I see on Mgoob's is the handset jack and the slots on the 4 corner bolt heads. I think the row of top buttons are the same but they're pressed in or collapsed (because it was gutted) on the prop.

I totallt agree, the LS-386 is the prop they used.

Respectfully, I disagree it's an IC-KAA. The levers are different; the handles are too short (close to body); the push buttons along the top have nuts under them; and it's missing the 3 red lights.

I'm confident its a LS-386.

Mike

They used different versions through out the ship, notice here it is a IC-KAA and look how the phone cord goes into the intercom, and also note the different custom base on the wall.
