BSG - If you can't buy it, make it!

Ok, I'm jumping in on the bandwagon too. I just purchased a pair of Ta-954/TT phones.

I would certainly be interested in the possibility of decals. :)

So we know what the corridor phones are. Anybody happen to identify the CIC phones?

Others I'd like to try would be the speaker boxes and the wall lights:

I think the wall lights are modified exterior house lights that i have on my home. The base and shape is exact the difference is mine have a thick wire cage over the glass and these have a plastic shroud. I am sure we can make those.

Ok guys what would you guess the paint scheme to be?
Silver base coat?
What color is the top coat?
looks like a dark blueish grey.
Mine was here when i got home today and I was emailed the close up pics for the button decals.
Also i noticed that the top of the phone has some added greebiles.

Very interested for more info on the speaker boxes, too.

I know a lot of the set dec was from old submarines, if that helps narrow the search.

During the auction they specifically said these phones were from an old submarine. The speaker boxes might be too - I don't remember what they said about those.

This puppy is hard to find...

I've searched military phones, intercoms, switchboards, submarines, radios, communication equipment, still no dice...

The wall speakers/ intercoms are unit: US Navy Intercom Station LS-386.
The unit I have is missing the metal tag seen on the lower left next to the wall attachment bolt (and below the handset connector).

Walk around the NASM (The Mall) as I did summer of 08 and into the Enterprise Aircraft Carrier exhibit. I counted about 5 or 7 of these on the walls. The exhibit hasn't changed since 1976 when it opened (IIRC), so they just weren't used on submarines- probably all over the US Navy.

I bought mine in early 2007 from an eBay seller who was advertising something that was close, but no cigar. He eventually found me one of these 32 1/2 lbs. beasts. (YES- my Mail Scale says thirtytwo and one half pounds:eek).

The unit protrudes 8 inches from the wall.
They unbolted it into two parts, and only used the front 2 inches (resin castings as the auction stated).

Lastly, the seller told me this: "Working units are still in demand by 2 world countries and I get more money for them than I am asking of you; but the forms required to sell outside US to a Foreign Country are mind boggling..."

Good luck everyone on their search!

Roslin's tape recorder is an inexpensive RCA RP3503 cassette recorder/ player (all plastic).

Props just put a round sticker over the RCA logo.

Thanks, mgoob!

32 1/2 pounds...wow. I guess that's why most of the Galactica intercoms were lightweight copies!

The "Soldier on Aerelon" photo in frame that was behind Roslin's desk sometimes pops up on eBay. Nicely produced, just missing brass plaque at bottom of frame (who knows what it says?"

The frame is injection moulded plastic, made in China.

I recall during the live auction either the prop guy or the auction guy saying that "I've seen these out there on the web, but the proportions are wrong. With this frame you get a handmade, screen used prop that..."

Starbuck's cigar cutter was a Xikar Xi1 Cigar Cutter with the lock-down knob removed.

Just a bit pricey is all, especially since I don't smoke (except when I'm on fire) :cool

Hope this helps ya'all.
