BSG- Blood and Chrome - frakking A

It's been a while since I last watched season 4 of BSG, but I thought Anders said that they only gave up their tech after they made the Centurions end the war, not before or during. I thought the prototype thing we saw was something closer to the Hybrids; as Sharon said in Razor, they were an evolutionary dead end and so we saw what eventually gets us there. The humanoid models we see in the main series are all totally human through-and-through, they don't have an "traditional" cybernetic components to them.

you are exactly right... which to me then says that having Tricia Helfer voice the hybrid we saw was just esoteric candy for the fans to chew on. So what we saw was the Centerions attempt at a humoid and not what the final 5 gift them when they call a truce and end the war. thanks for confirming that idea for me. :thumbsup

I know that Helen says she modeled Cavil after her father, but I assume the Centurions had some sort of input in the design for the humanoid models as well. So to me it would seem more likely that the voice used for whatever it is we saw is a precursor to the voice used for the Six model, and not the other way around.

I also don't think we should assume the Centurions didn't make any other attempts at creating humanoid models, excluding the 13th Tribe ones and the Hybrid type models. Again going back to what I half-remember from what Anders said, the Centurions had been trying unsuccessfully to make human models for years.

Either way, the model we saw being directly related to the humanoid models from the main series just doesn't sit right with me, given all of the information we've been shown prior.

agreed. pretty darn cool cylon model though! I love that her first line is the first line we hear Six make in the 2003 BSG pilot movie ! :love

She's just a prototype. The genetic material for the skinjobs had to come from somewhere. The Five don't arrive until later.

Hope everyone enjoyed Blood and Chrome. As promised I will dig some pics out of the colonial sidearms I made for this show and post them here or in a new thread. Sorry but I had to wait until the shorts were completed before I wanted to show anything..... I didn't want to spoil it for anyone.

We can only hope that B&C generates into something. It would really be cool to see another series like this come to life. Plus, papa needs a new pair of shoes so I really need the work. Lol

was the cylon cyborg at the end an also an homage to 'Lucifer' from the original series?

I liked it very much, I just hope this one isn't killed off by because it it's 0.02 points off the Kompowski scale of housewives aged 37-46 and the fish guts they consulted looked a little too red ...

I absolutely loved B&C. Here's hoping that it does well on the broadcast and SyFy realizes it would be worthwhile to do an actual series. (Yes, I'm the eternal optimist in this, I realize!) :)

I agree 200%. It was awesome. There's so much to tell. The entire Cylon war. guest appearances by Graystone and the Adamas. You could do an episode taking place 2000 years in the past to show the holocaust on Cylon Earth, You could show the arrival of the 5. I could go on...

i have to start off with: i have never before watched BSG

now, that said, this was my first exposure to it. i have seen the occasional cylon posts and knew where they came from, but thats it.

with that said, i quite enjoyed this. one thing i would want for a pilot is a little more backstory, how it all started. basicly they said they built robots and then they turned against humanity. and suddenly were in space and stuff. it needed a little more explaining. i made up my own story in my head, but the regular viewer might be unsatisfied.

overall, it was good, the effects were lacking sometimes, and too much lens flares.

also, i dont know if the Frak thing is a inside joke, or just to get around the rating, but it annoyed me. if its an inside joke (like: ive got a bad feeling about this), then its ok. but just for the sake of cursing without curse words, its pretty stupid
i also noticed, that when they said sh* in the beginning, they covered it with the sound of someone dropping a metal rod or something.

the dropping metal was censorship but shouldn't be on the dvd release.
Frak is a made up swear word that started with the original 70's tv series and is an homage to that and reused in the BSG reimagining to replace the Fbomb and is really kind of funny... especially since they embellish it with mother frakker and such.... believe me its all a part of the BSG mythos and is very much like the ive got a bad feeling about this kind of thing.
you really should watch the entire BSG reimagine that aired on Syfy starting back in late 2003 (and perhaps the ill fated one season of caprica prequel) so you can catch up and catch on with the who, why what of this universe. We fans can overlook the spfx limitations considering we;ve been hankering for more frakkin BSG by gods...so say we all! :D
by the way, if you want an even more inside joke on Frak then leave it to Robot Chicken's BSG to make me laugh my beer through my nose! Frakking Galactica - Robot Chicken - Adult Swim Video

By the way, today marks the 9th anniversary of airing of the first part of the re-imagined series' mini-series on the Sci-Fi Channel. Tomorrow marks the second episode's airing.

Wow. I've still got some issues with the thing not actually being about anything for much of the runtime (and no, Huskers' tour of duty is not what it's about - that's the context, not the theme), but holy crap did ep 9 and 10 bring the goods! Moral grey areas, the toasters as something other than just boogey-men, and compelling questions. It would have been nice to see a build up to this stuff, as nothing really set the stage for it, but taken in isolation the last two really convinced me that this is a series I want to see given the green light.

I'm sure the producers/editors who had to break their movie down into ten parts are just thrilled that two episodes were released at a time butted together. They could've just made five episodes at twice the length.

I've seen Blood and Chrome on YouTube, and I've read it will be on Syfy in February.

Will there be more content that airs on Syfy, or is the entirety available now?

Is there a chance that if it is popular, the powers that be will commission further Battlestar episides?

I need more Battlestar Galactica!

Haven't watched it yet, but instead chose to try and hold off for the Feb release on SyFy. My patience is wearing thin so I might go ahead and dive in as I'm a huge BSG fan. Hope it kick starts a new series!
