BSG- Blood and Chrome - frakking A

Right. But the combination of those six letters is hardly a coincidence...

Whatever they say! I'm liking B&C immensely.

what? the combination of those letters? seriously? google Djerba... you are seriously reaching and seeing what's not there. :rolleyes

Done. And here is the very first paragraph from the Google search:

Djerba has a mild climate and a well cultivated soil. Its largest city is Houmt-Souk, with a population of around 65,000. The island is a popular tourist destination, particularly with French, German and Italian tourists, and is known for its beautiful beaches and dramatic sunsets. It is one of the few remaining places in Tunisia where a Berber language is still spoken. Another factor drawing some tourists to Djerba is the 1977 location of the Mos Eisley exterior scenes in the first Star Wars movie, filmed in the town of Ajim

Hey, I've counted at least 7 different actors from RIS BSG and Caprica turning up in the web-series so far. It's actually great seeing them come back to BSG once again. :D

exactly but that still doesn't explain your "But the combination of those six letters is hardly a coincidence..." quip. what's that all about? Its only spelled one way so your comment doesn't make any sense. just the same like I say the writers already said that wasn't a nod to star wars anyway. we are making a mountain out of an ant hill :lol

Hmmmm...well, another half-hour in and while it's all very purdy (it's very VERY purdy!)....it's still not actually about anything, is it? I know, I know...I'll keep watching and waiting for the promised depth to appear, but damn, even Caprica, which took a LOT of flack for it's pacing, had figured out what it was about 45 minutes in.

Oh, and Raptors apparently don't need any avionics or anything back there? No? Oh...okay. I'd maybe have suggested that the Colonials question any engineer who wanted to stuff gigantic twirling miniguns of death right under the engine of my otherwise Newton-obeying fighter craft...but that's just me.

It means there is only one place in the known universe with that name, and I'd wager that anyone who knows much about Star Wars knows what that name generally stands for in the sci-fi world. That the production crew or whomever associated with BSG have stated they intended no connection to the "Star Wars" aspect of Djerba is fine by me. My initial post was simply asking if the reference was deliberate or coincidental. No mountains being made here... :cool

Yes, and I told you it was coincidental with proof. You didn't seem to want to accept that with your quip "But the combination of those six letters is hardly a coincidence..." So there is only one way to spell it... big deal.
So you ask is it deliberate or coincidental and I gave you evidence it wasn't intentional but you know what, I'm tired of this so okay yup, you're right, you win. no matter what the writers say their frozen planet Djerba is most definitely without a doubt a deliberate nod in reference to mos eisley on tatooine in Star Wars… amazing I just didn't see it! :D

NormanF post is much more likely:
A lot of names in BSG seem to come from old religions and cultures. Legend is that Djerba is the island where Odysseus encountered the Lotus Eaters. Which might be a clue about the next couple of episodes.

I conceded the point right here:

It's you who seem to want to banter on with it. I've only
been responding to you from there on. :lol

Episodes keep getting better. :popcorn

I wonder if there would be any inerest for the colonial sidearm I made for the show? :rolleyes

I don't know..... it's just a thought.

More Colonial weapons? Yes, please! :):thumbsup

@Sundowner....
It was actually in the first scene where Adama shoots at the raider from his Viper. I know.... you can't really see it. lol its there, though. However, keep watching the show..... there will be a lot of shoots with them and some good close ups. Keep watching.... you won't miss them.

Cheers,
Kenney

Oh ya I did see it but it was kind of dark. But I'll keep an eye out for it. I love new "pew pew" props! :lol

So far I like it, but the constant lens flare is driving me nuts. I'm trying to keep in mind that this was actually filmed not long after Abrams Trek taught us that excessive lens flare somehow equals sci-fi but still...

Also, I never imagined Bill Adama would have a tramp stamp... :confused

Tramp stamp is the lower back, dude.

For further illustration, here's Antonio Sabato Jr's tramp stamp I first saw in Princess of Mars on SyFy

I know, I didn't need the illustrations.

I just thought the placement of his tattoo was odd, and not befitting the character and decided to make a joke out of it.

Sorry about that.

As to Adama's tattoo I just figured it was one of those 'stupid things we do as kids' things and thought it was kind of interesting that he had the Tauron flag tattooed there considering how quick he is to tell people he's Caprican.
