Been really busy here lately and haven't had time to do any updates. Not sure if anyone remembers back in spring I was commissioned to build the Fire control or Damage control panel and surrounding wall of GAK.

Here is pic of the real prop in action.

And this is a pic of all that is left of the original. Taken at the PROPWORX auction.

I was email several pics from the auction taken by a phone cam, so you know the quality wasn't great.

I did my best to piece some of it together and then turned it over to my good friend, G-Man, to re-work it. I just got it back this week and he did a FRACKING AWESOME job. He had to redraw the whole thing , took him forever and I couldn't be happier.

It was mounted on 1/2 PVC board and so begins the task of wiring 688 green and red LED lights.

More to come in the next few weeks.

Re: BSG Battlestar Galactica DAMAGE CONTROL panel build

Excellent job so far. Can't wait to see the final product. :D

Re: BSG Battlestar Galactica DAMAGE CONTROL panel build

Wait! Before you get too far, some of the LEDs are blue! :cool

As seen in the picture I've attached, I believe this was the only bank of blue ones, the rest were red/green...

I have a much larger image of this if you want it...

Cool, I've been looking forwad to seeing how the switch covers worked out for you.

Re: BSG Battlestar Galactica DAMAGE CONTROL panel build

That is wicked! Any chance there might be a run of these for interested parties?

:thumbsup

Re: BSG Battlestar Galactica DAMAGE CONTROL panel build

it would make an awesome wall hanging wouldn't it?

Re: BSG Battlestar Galactica DAMAGE CONTROL panel build

I would use multi colored LED's. One LED that will give you red, green, yellow and blue.

Great work by the way.

Re: BSG Battlestar DAMAGE CONTROL panel build 9/21 New pics

Any plans on taking the next step after it is finished, and build up the other items around it? A massive job you have taken on with a labor of love all the way. I also 2nd the question planning on making any runs on the print?

Re: BSG Battlestar DAMAGE CONTROL panel build 9/21 New pics

I am contracted to make the entire unit. Phase one is the control panel with all the lights and such. Phase two will be the wall of gak that the panel fits into.

Re: BSG Battlestar DAMAGE CONTROL panel build 9/21 New pics

Atleast your getting the tedious part out of the way first, shame you don't have some people to help you out with that. Either way it's going to be awesome. Do you know how the buyer plans to set it up? As in....you said your making the full unit, so do you know what they plan to do with it/how they are going to display it?

Re: BSG Battlestar DAMAGE CONTROL panel build 9/21 New pics

Not sure yet on a run of this.. Let me see how this turns out..

Re: BSG Battlestar DAMAGE CONTROL panel build 9/21 New pics

Also I might've gone with RGB led's so you could wire it up to an Arduino and do all kinds of fun sequences with it. I imagine that would drive up the cost but i'd think you'd get a discount for buying them in bulk given how many you need.

Trust me, wiring and electonics are not my strong suit. I am barely getting through this sane. Nothing fancy here.
