BRRogers / Verity Cosplay / 7 Chambers - "MoM of All Heroes"

Something to think about is you're probably not going to ever want to take the crystal chamber out once you've finished wiring since it screws in. The chamber's instructions recommend either using a chassis pogo pin setup or wiring the chamber to the chassis outside of the saber and twisting the entire assembly in together. I can't think of any real way you could have battery contacts there along with a pogo connector. At least not without redesigning the chassis. I'd imagine you'd need to go back down to an 18650 for that.

I think the slots you asked about are just meant for running the thick battery wires through cleanly to the charging port.
There was a guy on Facebook who made cartridge system chassis that allows for a removable battery setup. Here are some photos of his chassis. The designer of this chassis sells the STL files for €25 ($25 as of this time of writing).

Photos are from Facebook (not mine).

Thanks for posting this:

I do hope that with everything going on. Adam and I can still get to realizing my very original concept (seen below) Oct.2019

The chamber was worked through and (mostly) delivered … (with more to be made soon as I am told)
But in terms of the functional *idea*… yes that is exactly what I imagined for this hilt. A bit more 3D printed gold and detail maybe but… that captures the practical spirit of it.
The board and the control box are tied together, functioning kill key inside the control box to make the reveal board truly interactive. The chamber is merely an extension practically to the blade FX but beautiful to look at… and the speaker functions on a sled with an interchangeable battery that is easily plucked out. “Energy Core” so to speak.

I’m sad we’ve been too busy In our personal lives, health issues aside, and work, to deliver a lower chassis on par with the chamber… but I’ve told this author. I’m really glad someone “got it”. He’s got my blessing to glam it out if he wants… but perhaps that’s a solution for someone else!

*PS. Literally the first time I’d drawn something on IPad… that I got for my wife for our anniversary* don’t judge haha XD

The drawing looks great, I couldn’t have done it myself on an iPad haha.

Yeah, all that chassis needs is to be dressed up a bit more with details on the outside. Considering tolerances and material, Shapeways could print it out nicely.

I received mine this week after being stuck at customs for more than a week. The easiest and fastest way to contact 7Chambers, is by contacting Lewis Petch on Facebook.

Lewis did end up responding to my message sent through the site and is going to be sending one out to me. I'm happy to not have to log into Facebook as I avoid it like the plague. I'm not sure if mine got lost, stuck in customs, or just never sent out though. The idea of something so small and simple being stuck in customs is quite amusing.

Now to finally start building this thing since I've run out of excuses for putting it off. :D

That is a really neat system! I think I'd personally prefer having the larger battery capacity, but if you wanted to be able to easily swap them out that seems ideal. I recently finished my mk1 and I actually really like having a recharge port and kill key over a removable battery. I can definitely see the draw though.

Now something like this could actually sell me on removable chassis. That looks great.

That's good. And yeah, I do understand the desire to avoid Facebook. I myself stick to only the saber-related groups. It's the best way to get news about sabers.

That's also something to consider. We're all used to removable 18650 batteries in sabers, but having a larger battery in there is also pretty neat. In the end, having a removable battery can be very useful if you end up with a faulty battery some day. No need to disassemble the entire saber in that case :)

Those are the pros, there are some cons but for the sake of a functional product, the cons (mostly aesthetic) are negligible.
But yeah if you feel strongly about the new one go ahead and ask mr LP about it :)

I did :D Waiting for 2+ weeks for it's shipping :p

I would love for something like this to eventually come to fruition (I'd use it for the V2) so keep pushing on development please :).

Hmm its now September and i am still yet to hear anything about my MoM of all Heroes Gen 2 order

Anyone had there's ship?

This might be a stupid question but my hilt pretty much hasn’t left the box since I’ve received it.

I pulled it out to take a gander at starting the reveal board while I wait for the 7C chamber to ship and noticed a blemish on the main part of the body. Was this intentional? If not, any tips on how to even this out to achieve a uniform finish? I know this isn’t a high end LE Collectable but I’d still like it to be pristine to fit the rest of my collection.

If you are referring to the darkening area that is oxidation. The downside to 7075 is that while it is stronger, it does oxidize. Light steel wool will remove that without marring the finish.

Yeah, just the little dark spot. Appreciate the response.
I think differently, the real prop is oxidized today, I would leave it like that
Interesting perspective. Maybe I’ll just leave it! There is some temptation to weather the bag out of it.

Honest to god, I wouldn’t change it if it were mine, in year or two it’s going to have the correct oxidized finish. And you got it “all natural”

Any updates on replacement helper boards?
From the V2 thread
I don’t want to keep repeating what I’ve already communicated to you guys. I repost your queries to Lewis as often as I get them.

Off topic: I can not comment on Aniflex as I’m not involved with any of that.
Off topic:
Apparently we need more pcb helpers and reveal boards for the MOM. It sounds like we need to line up new vendors there… so now I’m going to try and chase that down and see why we’ve been ghosted.

The current mom batch and V2 (mid full production) seems to be the last components Lewis can produce with the UK machinist.
He explained to me the partnership with the company would require (nearly double) the current labor costs to produce with the request of the manufacturing facility to cover inflations and the cost of labor merit increases.

That’s means future runs would not just be out of customers price range but his ability to produce goods and keep a living. Unless he triples the price of goods sold the relationship won’t sustain the business.

That’s a far cry from the original conversation/ agreement that was struck which attracted us into this position.

I feel like the past 4 years have been a constant battle to correct worst possible case scenarios that have befallen us.
Still fighting to get you guys what you deserve, expect, and (in this case) paid for.
It will get done.
