BRRogers / Verity Cosplay / 7 Chambers - "MoM of All Heroes"

Any prototype teases in store for us? You guys have been doing a great job keeping all of us in the loop. Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris, yes... it is in store for everyone. This process has been grueling but we ARE making headway. Can't wait to show off all the final updates as well as the final touches in one package.

Just bear with us a little longer!

Hey Bryan,
Sounds good! I'm sure COVID hitting when it did threw a big wrench into revealing the final product. I know you guys have been putting so much effort into giving us an incredible Hero and we look forward to seeing it! Thanks for responding.

Yeah. Covid has REALLY done a good job of messing with this project a LOT. :(

Light update on the MoM hilt:

There is more GOOD news to come...

I'd be lying if I said Adam and I don't feel a bit ragged at this point...
Due to perhaps Covid or any other complications related to it we've been forced to hop vendors over the past few months along with 7Chambers.
It sucks when you have a GREAT quote and a competent machinist but they jerk you around FOR MONTHS and don't make good on your timetable. We dealt with that first and decided to drop them in favor for someone who was much more communicative.
Then with them we've found ourselves in this really ... odd ... financial negotiation to get a prototype.

Adam and I WILL NOT pull the trigger on full production until we can verify the quality of the intricacies we've specified with our machinist... yet it's been strangely difficult to cull a prototype in our negotiation for some reason. Timeline and manpower apparently for the machinist.

SO.
To the point:
Prototype is coming. Actually, a couple are.
Adam's machine drawings are so precise along with the model that we can ask for EXTREMELY high tolerances/ specs... so anyone capable with the proper tools should be able to reproduce it to that spec.
We finally managed to land on a deal for a prototype from our (now) manufacturer so we can verify the crucial components, AND we're getting a second prototype hilt machined in the UK.

The *actual* run machinist will ship the crucial components to Adam for verification between myself and him, and the UK machinist will be able to supply 7Chambers a prototype to begin some much delayed (and necessary) promo.
So, we are fingers crossed (I'm sure with all of you) that there will be some more good news and progress in the next couple weeks.

Going for full disclosure here so I hope you guys know where we are at and can bear with us a bit longer.

o_O o_O o_O

*P.S.*
Development hasn't actually stopped either. We've just included some small updates into the packet which I'm sure you'll appreciate. I believe Halliwax (our own RPF Thin-Neck cheerleader ;)) has the most updated image which you'll get a chance to see with another fun preview... soon I believe!

I apologize if this is a dumb question or has been answered before, but will there be an option for the kits to come pre-assembled or even installed for an extra price?

The way it is designed to go together it should be rather straight forward as a kit, similar to the anakin starkiller (his threading mimics this one) however the control box itself should be quite a bit easier in terms of buttons and arrows. Large threaded components will come pre assembled in the packaging.
The hardest part, as always... might be the tri-ring. (We don’t put that on and we don’t trust the factory to put that on) so as long as you protect the hilt (tape off the pommel and use the recommended tools) it will otherwise be easy. There are plenty of videos available for this.

We actually did discuss offering some of these pre-installed. However;
Considering there are WELL over the 100 unit mark the worry is that a large number of people would request such a service in which case between the three of us (Adam, Lewis, and myself) we wouldn’t be able to meet demand. We simply aren’t set up like that. Actually, I’m a beginner installer (if you can call me that) so it’s really just two guys haha.

Apart from that, if individuals want the unit installed I would wait a little longer until the crystal chamber is manufactured or available to print and then contact a reputable installer. Adam and Lewis have both expressed they might be willing to do it that way which would likely be after the initial delivery and wouldn’t put pressure on them to do more than they are already set up to.

Awesome, thanks for clarifying! And I appreciate the efforts to make the assembly straightforward!

That's awesome to know that you guys have the crystal chamber in mind too. You guys have any estimated date for the crystal chamber? I would expect a date around October/November?

the crystal chamber design is finished aside from the crystal holders themselves (I am noodling a way to do a multitude of crystal variants such as resin/printed from shapeways, Illumicore or actual quartz and trying to devise a clean way to easily handle all three.

the idea for the chamber will be a run of machined ones, as well as the option for sprued design that can be shapeways printed.

There also will be a Grandmaster-like level chassis designed for it to accompany the chamber as well. the photos are higher in the threads but here is what the chamber looks like:
