Maybe I missed this, but will there be thin copper/bronze/aluminum shims above and below the windvane area to mimic the windvane paint being on these surfaces above/below the windvane?

This seems to me to be a larger detail than some of those you guys are striving to replicate, and I don't know of any other replicas with non-painted necks that have accurately replicated this.

meh? The MoM will include two boards. Functional helper board underneath and a reveal on top.

Or are you asking about a working reveal?

Yeah I was under the impression a stand alone board with blinking lights hidden under the fake electronics board

Still crossing my fingers to nab one of these... May the 4th should I be hitting F5?

Doubtful. We expect (hope) to get prototype photos from the factory by end of next week.

then it has to be shipped to me for verification / approval.

then full fabrication begins.

we're close but not there just yet. The sheer number of components plus corona introduced a ton of delay to this. We're on the cusp but the virus has definitely put a stall in things and that has been extremely frustrating.

BRRogers and I continue to work on the other finishing touches (he has been issuing clamp cards and I have been working on the helper and reveal boards) whilst we anxiously await the prototype to finally be revealed.

Thanks for answering so thoroughly. I hope we arent pestering you too much we are just super excited (we=me?).
I know this is quite the process but hopefully we get something for the 4th, like some nice reveal pics of the prototype? Maybe? If not we understand.

Well now reveal pics of the prototype might be possible for the 4th. Presuming the factory sees no additional delays.

not pestering at all. Trust me, no one is more anxious than BRRogers and I. :D

That's another reason I want one of these. You guys want it as bad as we do!
I have been wanting a high quality thin neck luke rotj hero since LDM made his mkVI runs.
Thanks again!

Will the reveal boards ever be sold separately? I'm thinking about modifying one to fit into my Roman's V4.

We already plan to do a canon/accurate sized one.

I could do one to fit a v4 (I have one to measure currently).

Don't see why not if there is a strong desire for them.

(point is you should not have to modify one)

I am curious how you plan to modify the copper plate on the V4 to work for a reveal like that tho....

Consider my desire strong! And not sure yet, still formulating.

Any answer to this question BRRogers or Verity Cosplay ?

This is nearly an impossible feature to do on a joint due to the delicacy of the edge of the joint.

no. The best way to do this for this hilt accurately is once assembled (probably with the aluminum neck)... bondo the joint and make the fillet / coping. Then paint over it.

we plan to include this fillet on a static if/when we do one. But no not on the FX due to the difficulty in fabricating the part at that joint.

it is an easy effect for the end user to replicate once assembled in the desired configuration.

(In fairness BRRogers and I did toy with this feature and ultimately could not get it to look right while making the edge fabricatable).

ultimately actually using aluminum windvane and painting the neck is the best way to accomplish that feature.

Maybe I misstated the question. I'm just talking about punching out from a super thin sheet of bronze or copper thin disks that can perhaps be glued to the upper/lower surfaces above/below the windvane.

The ID of these disks would match the OD of the windvane so that they don't interfere with anything. They just passively adhere to the surfaces above/below the windvane so that there is matching real metal there to match the real metal of the windvane.

Hope that makes better sense.

hmm. To play devil's advocate. Shimming in this fashion would introduce length since the shims would interfere with the parts fully seating. Second, while minute that same effect weakens the threaded joint because it is not fully seated.

conversely, as an alternative using real metals why would you not use super thin bronze and/or copper tape?

ultimately none of the above is absolute accurate, which is why we are including the aluminum windvane.

The original feature is paint accumulation at the corners...
