Brother Where Art thou...Hair Product?

Mmm....the back of the can what's on that???

Admata...you have everything worth having mate! LOL Could you share some pics of your tin from other angles and maybe dimensions when you have time please?

I seem to remember someone saying they were the size of generic shoe polish tins.

Here's a display I knocked up. It's on matt art so the glossy can labels really stand out. I need to get it framed. The whole thing's a shade over 6.6" x 9.6". Each label is 2.75" diameter. All original artwork. The lettering is slightly different to other versions I have seen; I think it's closer to the originals.

The back of the Dapper Dan can is just red. You can see it quite clearly when Clooney finishes combing it through his hair and closes the tin.

Kevin,

Outstanding display idea mate LOL Well...anyone have any contacts in China to see about a run? What's a minimun order we need to make this feasable? LOL

The lid labels I've made are 400dpi. I have finished the strip that goes around the edge of the FOP lid and the DD lid. I just need to finally decipher the text that goes around the edge of the Dapper Dan tin and I can put that strip together too.

I am going to buy one each of the correct shaped pomade tins (the FOP tin is a different shape to the DD tin) and spray paint them the appropriate colour. Then apply the labels.

My thinking was that the tins of the time would have been screen printed, so there would not be a full colour illustration printed on it, or any graduated tone (FOP lid). The only way would be a four-colour process label. It would be hard to tell on the original prop because of the slight lip around the edge of the lid and the fact that the label edge, being a different colour, helps camouflage the blend. Even the edge of the black & white band around the lid seems to catch the light on screen grabs, so it is proud of the surface. Sticker, methinks.

Well...so in actual fact if we could get stickers done and find some off the shelf cans. This might be doable?

Would you consider sharing your work or selling stickers mate? I htink we would all love to be in on a run......

As I posted in another thread, to have these professionally manufactured would mean a run in the thousands! I think the sticker on an off-the-shelf can is a great idea! So... has anyone sourced a close-enough can?

Kind regards,
Magnoli

I love the miracle of HDTV. I just caught O' Brother on the HD movie channel and thought, "Hey, I wonder if I missed anything important on those cans." Turns out, I did...

So who's in the mood for some Dapper Dan cans?:love

Oh and hey, it's great to be back here! :thumbsup
