My nephew broke the blade on an old FX lightsaber I gave him. It broke right near the base. Is there any way to fix the blade with a plastic tube or something? I couldn't really see how the blade is attached to the hilt.

Didn't hyperdyne do a better blade for MR sabers? Not sure if it also work for the FX.

I wrote him recently, but haven't heard back regarding my inquiry. Maybe you'll have more luck!?

Thanks!

I'm not looking to put a bunch of money into it. I had an old Vader fx that was replaced because the emitter shroud was cracked. It still worked otherwise so I fixed it up for my nephew. He's 6, so he really doesn't need an improved version.

BTW, does anyone know what type of plastic the blade is? It looks like you can disassemble the saber and just replace the plastic blade.

Its polycarbonate. Same stuff bulletproof glass is made of. You can get the supplies from most plastic tubing suppliers or you can one-stop shop it at TCSS

You'll need a thin walled blade. then just follow the forum instructions to take the saber apart to where you can get the blade out and remove the LEDs and the white tube and put in the new blade.

They sell complete blades too

which vader saber is it that broke? ESB? ANH? was it the leds inside that arent working or did the blade actually crack off?

Thanks!

The LED blade works fine. I think he left it on the floor and my 2 year old niece thought it would be good to bounce on.

Sorry for digging up a dead thread, but my ANH Vader saber recently had it's LED not function. LINK Suggestions? :cry

Start looking into lightsaber conversion kits. These basically replace the strip of LEDs in the blade with a single LED at the base. You don't get the cool scrolling blade anymore, but you have a working light. Another option is to eBay the LED strip for the saber and simply replace it.

The nice part apart replacing the LED strip with a single LED in the handle is the blade then becomes removable. Definitely check out the link higher up in the thread.

You can get replacement blades a Ultraforcesabers.com or you can just convert it to a single LED like a luxeon or seoul p4,JQ sabers or The Custom Saber Shop for conversion kits and all supplies you need for it

The Custom Saber Shop or JQ Sabers for conversion kits to give it a single high power LED

If you want to give a 6 year old a cool light-up Darth Vader lightsaber and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, I would trade him the broken saber for this: Darth Vader LIGHTSABER Toy – Star Wars | shopDisney

Light-up detachable blade, shorter and lighter, less chance of doing damage being swung around, and probably a better choice for a 6 year old.
I gotta say, those lightsabers aren't anywhere near as good as most proper replicas, but they're still surprisingly decent. Oddly enough, while the lightsabers have shorter blades, the $30 Darksaber is about the same size as the $200 one. They're also good for taking to cons, since they look decent enough, and are easily replaceable.
