I am a costume tech working on a student cast of SpongeBob and we are trying to duplicate a version of the Squidward shoe rig. If you are unfamiliar with it I have attached some pictures.
Short version, there is a second set of shoes attached at the heel of the first set so they move when the actor dances. Fake legs are added to the feet that are articulated. Legs will likely be padded pool noodles with tennis ball joints.
Our shop is not capable of building custom shoes but we have access to a local shoe repair guy who resoles stuff for us.
