Brian's Blade Runner Builds

I couldn't find actual LEDs small enough to fit. I bought a sheet of small gold self-adhesive semi-spheres from Poundland and painted them with a blob of red enamel. They fit in the existing holes perfectly.

Good one. I wondered how you managed to get the fake LED's so perfectly painted. Where in Poundland would I find them?

I found them in the crafts section. They came on a sheet with various pearlescent colours and sizes, and the smallest size worked great when painted with a spot of red enamel.

Candykiller - just wanted to say thanks for being so cool about sharing your processes and updates, it's great to see.
As a side note, I bought one of your Blade Runner and Aliens movie posters, which I haven't got round to having framed yet - but I'm looking forward to getting them up.

Wow, just went through a bunch of your work, amazing job on the water gun repaint, amazing job on the phone, amazing work on the Gaff headgear and VK, amazing art work on your posters and kickstarter projects, just well....... everything's amazing amazing amazing!!!

I’ve been working on my mk 2 water blaster. This is a very simple mod that helps disguise the awkward part that stretches back to the main body of the blaster. I just added a 1mm plastic disc to the front of the part and painted the rear portion in a dark tone. It really helps make it appear to be a separate piece and feel less obvious that it is moulded on to the back of the gun.

Oh, that's very clever! I was planning on something similar with paint... but seeing how effective the disc is I shall shamelessly steal that idea! :)

Hey prop folks, I missed this party.
I thought I would add my two pence worth.

I've done a phone as well, although it still needs a couple of additions to finish it off, it seems to be all the rave at the moment. Bring on 2049, it should be a good year.

Damn, really wish I would have come up with that!
...very nice build!

What a great, simple solution! Did you fabricate the disc yourself, or were you lucky enough to find a pre-made piece that happened to be the right diameter?

I found a pre-made part that almost worked. It was just a little too big, so I carefully sanded it down until it fitted into place.

A few pics of my Mk 2 water blaster with a bit of light rusting to finish things off.

But I’m not done yet. I’m taking things a step further with my third attempt by recasting the grips in solid resin. (I bought the blue water blaster kit with a spare set of amber grips from Impulse101 for this) I’ll drill out the fake hex bolts and replace them with real ones. The tricky part is going to be figuring out how to cut away the existing hollow grips neatly to replace them with the solid ones.

With each new update on this gun you outshine yourself with every new tweak. I'm stealing, I mean borrowing some of your ideas for mine. ;)
You shouldn't worry about cutting off the old grips, dremel them off leaving a bit around the handle and then grind off the rest. Add your new cool resin grips and take a bow.
