Blaster Cad Drawings

Has anyone put together some CAD drawings or dimensional drawings (w/tolerances) so people could have certain pieces machined. The blasters that I had in mind are the Solo ANH and the Naboo Ascension gun.

Was there ever a run composed of the metal parts used for the ascension gun? I may have a source to have these machines if I can find the overall dimensions.

There was a run of ascension gun parts long ago. I used them to build mine.
Marcus (kurtyboy) is looking to make more now.

Unfortunately I think that the cad drawings for the Han ANH blaster are lost to the board forever. Back when Guy Raz was still hiding out under the persona of Gabe, there was a thread in which alot of new discoveries concerning the Han ANH blaster were worked out. The work done in this thread is where the design for the new Han ANH EE blaster mount came from. Unfortunately however, Guy was the one who started the thread and he lead the development. When the truth about his identity came out all of this new info was lost to the board, and now it seems that the only way any board members will be able to reap the benifits of these new discoveries will be by buying a Han ANH EE from MR.
This is the scope mount that Guy Raz drew up based on his own and the board's research into the Han ANH scope mount.

I would love to see someone from the board make use of all of the new info about the scope mount and produce acurate scope mounts for the board, but I don't think it is gonna happen any time soon. It's too bad that this project had to die when Guy Raz was discovered. But he unfortunately had all of the cad drawing himself and kept them to himself when he was banned, and after we all found out who he was no one, including myself, wanted to have any more contact with him.

Chris already said it...get in contact with kurtyboy, he´s having a conversion kit for the ascension gun machined right now.

Yeah it is a shame with all the recent discoveries that the progress of having accurate replicas (for blasters that is) has seemed to fade.

Guy Raz is a banned member for many reasons you can check the thread for it.

Thanks for the feedback I'll give Kurtyboy a shout.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but your asking for a lot.

Basically you want someone who dedicated a great deal of time an effort to create a useable cad drawing to just hand over his work without any compensation.

I know this board is about sharing but there is a line in which requests become unreasonable and this request crosses it.

Most people that want to have parts machined use the available information to create a blueprint or CAD drawing and that is more in the spirit of this forum

I'm agreeing with Boba Debt on this one.

I think most don't realize just how much AutoCAD designers get paid to do freelance work. It's one reason why blueprints aren't just thrown out there for the general public to use.

It's unfortunate, but CAD drafters are probably getting paid more than professional prop makers. I've even considered going back to drafting.

Right after the discovery of Guy Raz deception, he wrote me in a email that he had no intentions to release any of the plans/drawings that he had made. The only exceptions were the Obi-Wan saber "gear" and Han Solo ANH flash hider where he would share the drawings with select people whom he was already cooperating with to have replicas made.

While I do acknowledge the CAD work that he has done, I view the actual research of the scope cradle to have been a community effort.
I also think that he has been a little bit too agressive with doing all these CAD drawings.
There had been times when I felt that he had "invaded" an ongoing research project, and sometimes to the worse. I can give you more than one example, but this is not the place for ranting.

I am a CAD designer and well...we don't make all that much.... :cry Not a bad salary mind ya....but since I don't know what prop makers get...I can't say...

I will say that starting pay for a CAD drafter is usually around $12 an hour (and that is a lot of place from the deep south to the west to the north).

Also drafting is a dying art....per se. It is getting outsourced more and more...and well they don't need drafters or designers as much (trust me I KNOW)

Hello,

These are blueprints for the various DH-44 flash hiders. There is one more ROTJ variation that is not yet complete, but IÂ’ll be posting it later.

These were derived from various photos so they are not prefect.

Also I have to agree drafting is a dying art. They'd rather hire a kid out of school and pay them nearly nothing. One other thing I have posted a number of blaster drawings. Check them out over at the Blaster Builder's Club. http://www.imperial-fleet.com/bbcforum/index.php search for my posts under wizardofflight and blueprints.
