Unlimited Run Blade Runner - Deckard's Blaster (Version 3)

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

Another early pic, with 2 failed inside parts, but it lets us check fit and size and it's just under 10 inches, which should be about right

Don't judge :p

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

More pics of the early prototype, again it lacks fine detail, but it's fitting together surprisingly well

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

Do we know if this can be shipped to Australia? I would love to get one of these.

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I ship tons of stuff to Australia, never had a problem... It comes in white (usually) and in pieces.

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

Some more pics. Again it's early but I'll be damned, I think this thing might actually work!! Ignore the red sharpie, just marks areas that need improvement.

Feels like 10,000. Will probably be closer to 30. I want to have this similar to the tomensuke kit. Normally we'd print all 3 barrel parts together, but I like the idea of assembling this like a kit. asavage would not have it any other way, I gotta keep Adam happy

Prototype 1 is done, this might just work ;). Prototype 2 will start next week (insert complaint about being too busy here), it will have a lot of the missing small details like screws, spots for LEDs, proper grips, a hinge for the cylinder, text on the barrel, etc.

Looking really good, very impressed so far (but wouldn't expect anything less from you) :)

Thanks man! Here's a pic of the grips with the texture on them. So complex to do, probably more polygons in these grips than a Pixar character

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

We've been talking here on the best way to handle all the small screws on this gun. The way I'm feeling now is that we will leave small holes in the plastic where one could insert their own metal screw heads into (see above image). Though the screws wouldn't screw in, you'd have to cut off the heads and glue them in place.

Here's the reasons why:

1) The accuracy will be obviously better.
2) These screw heads are VERY small, I'm not sure how well the printer will handle the detail on 3mm screws.
3) It's more flexible and fun. It lets those who have always wanted to "build" a blade runner gun actually simulate doing so.

I'd like to know if anyone is opposed to this. Maybe it becomes an option:

1) You find your own screws
2) I provide the screws, you pay extra.

Most of the screws are allen key type screws (M6, M8 style). I've got quite a few of these and it they look perfect. There are a few other type of flat head set screws, and I bet I could find those too.

Please give me some feedback. Do you like the idea? Do you not? Would it prevent you from buying one? Can you find your own screws? Do you want some included as an option?

My count is somewhere between 15 and 20 screws. Depending on the level of accuracy you want, you could use the above pictured screw and be pretty damn accurate. I'll try to source out some smaller slot headed set screws if there's a demand.

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I'm also sourcing a failry accurate on/off switch for the LEDs and of course some LEDs too

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I think the screw idea is fine. On most of my resin kits I do just that...cut out the resin screws and glue in a screw head for added realism.

If the screws are readily available locally for most I'd say just let us get the screws. But if they are a wonky size/type then of course we would appreciate you offering them to us!!! :)

So a vote for me on just leaving the screw holes without screws.

Looking fantastic btw

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I'm cool with add on screws...

I'd also be cool if the correct ones were included. Not that I'm lazy, I just hate hunting for screw types.

*Edit*

I'm lazy.
