Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

It's very close, couple small things like text and grip texture...

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

It looks good, but the barrel seems to be a bit too long and on the previous page, the binding post is scaled a little too small. (See the original here.) Are those still being adjusted? I have a real binding post available if you need reference.

Agreed the barrel is too long, we have to hollow it out and adjust it more. what is the binding post? Thanks for the advice

It's this part on the right side of the blaster:

One other small thing to consider: Some might prefer the slotted screw over the Weaver knob, which has only ever been seen in post-production/auction photos. Could you possibly offer both options with the kit? You could print or cast them each separately and the buyer could choose which to put on there.

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I've been studying some of the Worldcon original prop photos and have been comparing them against the Tomenosuke to identify what they did right and what discrepancies there might be. It was a quick study given that this was not my primary area of study. I don't know if you intend to model the screwholes and the visible screws but that would be nice too.

If you have pics of both sides of the blaster, I can provide some analysis for you.

How flattish vs roundish should the grip's lateral surfaces be, do you think?

Yes, espcially if it's a matter of gluing one part versus another!

Are you certain that's the right part? Richard Coyle wrote an article and referenced an image where this actually appeared to be a single grooved screw.

I've got another version of the gripa with the diamond pattern grooves. I'd glady take any pics u want to share. I know this is a tough gun to do, as there isn't really one agreed perfect replica. Tell us what you think and we'll do our best to accommodate.

And ya, screw holes are planned

Hey Mac - Someone took a real binding post (one with cut down threads) and held it up against the real deal when it was at auction and they matched. I'll try finding the photo...

Re: 3D Printed Blade Runner Gun Kit

I put Blade Runner on for the first time ever this weekend (I know... right?).

So not even 5 minutes in and I'm thinking "This movie has been around for how long now? And it took me this long to get to finally watch?! This is F*$king beautiful".

Then I got my first good look at the blaster....

Definitely INTERESTED.
