Ooh nice! Best shot I've seen of the buckle and strap. And I'd bet that these:

are magnets, which would hold the collar down in the position it always rests in.

one thing sticking out to me at the moment is the cut of the lower half of the coat. The front edges angle out quite a lot, as though the angle flows on from where the lapel is to the bottom hem, leaving a gap at the bottom. But on the 2nd prototype they angle back the wrong direction.

Correct. This is very important and what I was trying to express in my comment about tailoring. This shouldn’t look like a trench coat.

Also, is that another magnet in the top of the collar (perhaps for when it folds down)?

I could easily believe that that's an additional magnet that keeps the top corner of the collar stuck to the midpoint of the lapel.

Yep, the angle of the coat edge is something we've been discussing already. It will definitely be changed from what you see in the second sample.

And good call on the other magnet there. I was planning to play around with some magnets I already have and see what would give the best security to keep the collar down in place, I would say you're probably right about that. It will also be a good guide to the spacing of the closures along the opening of the jacket.

some little tid bits about the coat here dont know if it might help https://qz.com/1096414/ryan-goslings-shearling-jacket-in-blade-runner-2049-isnt-real/

Curious that they mention laminating the fabric, rather than waxing it. I was just looking at this stuff the other day for something else: http://www.vlieseline.com/Products/Creative-Range/Lamifix Gloss

no idea how stiff that makes the fabric but a similar sort of product could do the trick

Updated pictures. Soon I'll have a list of changes.

It's pretty good for a first sample. Lots of improvements coming though.

Nice!!! Is this a black waxed cotton or the screen accurate dark green? Hard to tell in certain lighting.

Shoulder panel and sleeve detailing are exact on this. Really, top job.

For the lining, someone on the FB group seems to think it was a black diamond quilting from a glimpse of the interior in the film.

So I assume the lettering and the interior lining are on the 'to do' list?

Apologies for the bombardment of questions. I'm enthusiastic :D Please put my name down for one. Once you've gotten it to the point where you're happy it's as screen accurate as it can be, I'm there.

Yea, I'm curious about the color as well. The movie coat is definitely a dark dark green, one character even refers to K as "the man in the green coat".

Very dark green. It seems to only show up green under direct light and then looks black under anything less.

This is black. I agree it can be hard to tell. And it is a matte quilted fabric on the inside in the movie, this sample has a plain satin lining. A friend has managed to take pictures where the coat is on display right now and the quilting can be seen, I'll ask him if it's ok to post them here.

It should be a dark olive green. Cotton based fabrics are harder for my guy to source than leather types. I'll look into getting more accurate color, but there's a good chance the first run will still be in this color. A second run might happen and if it does I can try for better color but it will likely cost more since it would probably involve me buying the more expensive fabric and shipping it to him.

I'd be willing to pay the extra for the original green waxed cotton. I'm sure I won't be alone in that. Appreciate all your efforts Zlurpo.

Just got back from seeing the movie, Toss my name on that list as well.

Sample looks great in the new shots! Can't wait to see the updated pattern.

For what it's worth, I am 100% in for green waxed cotton, and I would be happy to pay extra for it--even in advance, if necessary. Conversely, I don't think I'd be interested in the black fabric--so I hope that there's a second run, if you're not able to get the green fabric for this one!

Phenomenal work Zlurpo! I can't wait to see the next iteration.

I also love how the original looks in this shot:
