Bioshock infinite Vigor bottles

Note to self- never use model magic again. Had the octopii sculpted, but the clay shrank and cracked off. Trying to epoxy everything back on. Sculpty and resin for me after this. After I can secure the octopii on, I think I will add a light layer of resin for protection. Making the stopper for the salts bottle too- it's setting now (resin in an oval mold i made ). Hoping I can get one finished by Saturday. I feel like I am just making a huge mess though -_-#

Yeah, model magic isn't all that great. I only used it for mine because it's what I happened to have around me. I'm planning on making a Murder of Crows bottle for a friend soon and when I do I'll definitely be using sculpty.

What I did was as I finished all the bits I used a bit of hot glue under the key areas to secure it to the bottle, and then coated it with resin to ensure that the clay details wouldn't get damaged or fall off (plus it helped fill all of the seams left by the clay as it dried). It seems to have worked for me, so I definitely recommend giving that a shot.

Progress so far.

I am thinking I will sand it a little first and smooth out my shoddy sculpting. I am just going to put a coat or two of mod podge on it to seal the model magic bits instead of resin, mainly because I don't want to wait for it to dry. Then paint it . Stopper is done; just need to paint it and glue the stopper to the tentacle.

The cut outs look crazy with all the little parts XD. I actually used that file to get a better idea of my octopii for my solid model. But it probably isn't as difficult as it seems.

Okay, so I am no BeShifty but here is my first attempt at 3D modeling. I wanted to create a Vigor but that proved too tricky for this newbie so I decided to start off with a Plasmid bottle from Bioshock 1 instead (I needed something symmetrical). It is not finished yet but after many hair pulling moments I feel like it is finally starting to come together. I am trying to design it with 3D printing in mind and my goal is to maybe have fluid or an LED inside. All of that is a long ways off but hopefully I can pull something decent off.

Looks pretty darn good to me! I'm starting to learn Blender myself...woof. Steep learning curve so far...

Here's the bottle I found for the salts bottle... the bottle needs a good bit of work with some translucent clay (yes it's real) on the top. Shouldn't be too big of a deal though.

And here is the bottle for Undertow. It needs a bit more sanding, then I'm going to sculpt the octopus on top of the blue tape, remove it, paint the octopus, frost the bottle, and then do whatever other details need to be done.

That is a really nice antique bottle you're using for the salts. But as you said you have lot of them. Wish I had bottles like that availibile. Snapple bottles is something I do have while the size would but good for a number of bottles the S embossed on the glass ruins it for a number of the vigors.

Snapple bottles is something I do have while the size would but good for a number of bottles the S embossed on the glass ruins it for a number of the vigors.

Is the S raised or is it imprinted? If it is raised then you can just sand it off and frost the bottle and if it is imprinted you can fill it in with translucent sculpey clay and then frost it... both work well from what I know.

Hmm that's a good idea. The "s" is raised so it could be sanded. I've never sanded glass before what type of sandpaper would that take is there a grade that's specific for glass? Linteman bottles are also unique but the product seems too expensive online. If can find them cheap in stores like whole foods or world market ill give them a shot. There is an Australian ginger beer at world mArket that might be good for devils kiss , though I can't remember what the size is. Maybe smaller than I remember .

I used a 60 grit sandpaper for mine, and it worked almost perfectly. I'm not sure if there is another sandpaper grit you could use. Frosting the bottle afterwards is required though, or else you'll be able to tell that it was sanded.

Finished my Undertow for my friend. It turned out kind of haphazard, but actually it made it looks more weathered with the seams and cracks. My friend loved it and said he was going to put it on his desk at work. I am going to try and make another one using an air brush for the painted bottle and sculpty. Definitly a learning experience!

Aaaaand, my friend's roommate knocked the bottle over and the tentacle stopper separated from the bottom. He was texting me on how to fix it. -_-.
