Bimmer's Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

how about powder coating the metal? I think it would be a much brighter green than tinted resin.

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

Awesome work on the Batman suit so far. I love it, and as my oldest son is the Bat Fan in the house, I must not let him see this. I already have my head wrapped around making his Warmachine costume.
Might be just me, but I cant DL the size tester Helm. Did you take it down?

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

I can't believe the amount of detail your putting into these models. Great work.

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

haha thanks! I'm a stickler for details.. I like things accurate, clean, crisp and pretty! Sometimes it can turn into a bit of an OCD thing when it comes to props and artsy stuff. :)

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

Just wondered if there were any updates on the begins suit..great work again!

My OH would wet herself if I made a Batman Suit LOL

Any idea if your going to let us have the Pep files and time soon?

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

I think it is time that I come out and announce that I am the one who commissioned the Batman Begins model. And I couldn't be happier with the work Ian has done thus far. :)

With that being said, the commission does not include the creation of a pepakura file. I intend to have the 3D model machined. So in short - no files are going to be released.

I am not sure that pep Batman armor would benefit many people anyway. In terms of movie suits the end material should be rubber, not hardened card stock. So if it was pep it would mean an extra complicated and expensive step in molding for rubber castings. For those of you looking for a more "immediate" product, foam sheet would be a better idea. And for that I have some templates (not created by me) that I could share. I will see about hosting them and will start a new thread.

Yes please, that would make a lot more sense like you say it should be a rubber finish not solid :D

Re: Bimmer's Pepakura Movie Props - Current WIP: Batman Begins Suit (PIC HEAVY)

This is an amazing model. I have been searching for a batman begins armor pepakura file for years. If relaesed i was planning on using the thin foam used under a pergo floor and then strengthening the under side with hot glue then finishing off the outside of the armor with a rubber caoting.

Once again amazing work.

Hey everyone, thanks for the great comments! it is inspiring to hear them when at times you don't really feel like you know what you're doing with 3d stuff. I'm getting better everyday and learning new tricks to make modeling more easy though.

I don't have any updates in the way of the Begins suit right now, but i will be starting that up again real soon. I have some great new references that have been sent to me that will help a lot!

I've been spending most of my modeling time on a new Green Lantern movie ring which has come out great! I recently uploaded to Shapeways and had one 3d printed for myself to see how it would come out, and i was very happy with the result.

I think it turned out great. I'm currently in the process of revising this ring further to make it a bit smaller and lower profile. My only complaint with it was that it's just a bit large overall.

A few of you may have seen the thread in the Junkyard by Coofunkcurly on the 3d printed War machine helmet. I've finished the modeling for that and thought i'd share some photos

I just started working on the Captain America shield! I"m really excited, thanks for the files! And no lie, 36"D is plenty big. Just finished cutting and laying out the outer most ring and was shocked at the size. this is gonna be cool, thanks again.

yeah i didn't realize how big 36 inches actually was. the real shield is probably 30 at the most, but my guess is around 26

^^ I was thinking about the same when i laid out the rings. but it's going to be fun to build and cool to have (don't really care if its a little bigger :) )

you could always scale it down! i'll get around to scaling the unfold down and reposting the link eventually. haha. I'd love to see some pics of your build when you have some progress to show
