Bib Fortuna Costume Completed - Pics added post #85

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

I've always wanted to do a twilek this way! Sadly, I'm pretty sure my modeling skills won't compare to yours...looks fantastic so far.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Awesome man! Keep it coming with the pix. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Nearly finished all the prosthetics, just waiting on baldcaps.

Have asked www.clothearscostumes.com to make the robes and leather parts, their work and attention to detail is amazing.

Most of the latex parts made, still waiting on baldcaps.

Started working on the hands, using latex chimp fingers, will attach false pointy nails to them.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Wow! Very, very cool project. I haven't seen many try this costume and I can understand why...it seems pretty complex, and you couldn't pull this off with a cheap mask. Great work and like others here have stated, I can't wait to see it done. Thanks for the progress pics!

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Fantastic work.
Do you know what to use to paint it with?
If not its fairly simple.
Thin down some of the latex with distilled water, mix with acrylic paints and either airbrush it on or sponge it on like makeup. Once its dry, take the tack away with a translusent powder or just regular baby powder.
If your using regular baby powder you can bring back the color of mask with a light mist of hairspray. Leave the edges of your appliances free of color so you can glue them down nicely. You want to keep the edges as thin as possible until you have it glued on. Then you can take prosaide or more latex and with a stipple sponge blend the egdes into the face. To speed the process you can use a hair dryer set on cool.
Sorry for being so overly suggestful but i love this stuff and i have a degree in prosthetic and theatrical makeup. TOOT TOOT!
OH! and make sure you se a really good theatrical adheidsive, because latex is sorta difficult to keep attached to the skin. And get some detach-al make/glue remover. Trust me.

Can't wait to see it all done and on ya:):thumbsup

Thanks for the tips, acrylics are definitely the way to go for the base colour, then highlight and shading with rubber mask grease. Painting is the part I'm most looking forward to, where my lovely wife can get involved (she's a makeup artist).
I'll be using betabond to apply it, very strong, you'd tear skin before tearing it :eek. Will remove with isopropyl alcohol.
Once it's applied, I will coat it with a light layer of KY, Bib has that slimy sweat sheen.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Really good work!

.. but how will the headpiece support the weight of the lekku?

The lekku weigh about half a pound each which is virtually nothing.
Not that I want to give too many secrets away :lol but if there was a slight drag on them, I can always use some velcro support (hidden out of view). I don't think it will be necessary though.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

As it turns out, none of the baldcaps I bought are up to the task, just too flimsy. So I'm making my own extra thick version, should have done this weeks ago :wacko.
The whole process involves a huge amount of trial and error, and constant change of plans. Decided to paint the whole cast in RMG (rubber mask grease), will be a slow process but it will be worthwhile.
At least then I can blend the piece seamlessly with my own skin with RMG.

Re: Bib Fortuna Costume

Finished the baldcap and have attached the various parts.

The front lekku needs some readjusting so that it wraps around without puckering, need to refine some of the head structure as well. The lighting doesn't really do it justice but there is a lot of definiton in the skull shape.
Very happy with it so far
