Interest Beskar Ingot made out of Damascus - Anyone interested?

Finally caught up on my new favorite show, and my friend messaged me to let me know he could easily make those ingots.

Since I know I want a couple, I thought I'd open an interest thread and see who else might dig em.

These will be solid damascus, so they will be heavy. Plan currently (which might change) is to acid etch the imperial logo, and cnc out the grooves on the back.

Haven't decided if we are going to go the highly polished smooth look route, or the "can feel the waves" look for a more textured piece.

No idea on price, but guessing somewhere in the sub 100 range easily. Honestly, probably in the sub $75 range. It's work sanding, and the etching might be pricey, and the cnc work ain't gonna be cheap, BUT, it's a metal ingot. There's not a lotta detail we have to match there.

Shipping, as you can imagine, is gonna be a bear. Flat rate boxes would probably work best for local (in the US) peeps.

NO MONEY NEEDED AT THE MOMENT, we are probably going to make a test one or two over the christmas holiday. Mainly just looking to see the interest so we can figure out the pricing and get the quote for the cnc and the etching.

Post up if you are interested!

I wonder if you could save some time and money by C&Cing a die and striking the logo into the steel instead of C&Cing them individually ? I actually kind of want to see what that looks like... Is there any concern about protecting the steel from rust? Clear coat after polishing / etching?

I was thinking of just gloss clear coating mine when I got em, but leaving it up to the owner on what they'd like to do.

On one hand, the clear coat would work pretty well, but some people would rather just oil it and have it be a bit more "realistic", so it's open to whatever you'd like to do with it.

I thought about the die idea, but honestly, to smash the die deep enough into the damascus is going to deform the metal pretty good. Acid etching works great on the supernatural daggers we've done in the past, so if we can get it looking good on these, it'll still be cheaper than cnc. If we can't, then we can always go the cnc route for both the logo and the grooves.

I'd be very interested. Though I'd say the stamp should be as close to screen accurate as you can get with with etching and think a smooth texture would fit best

Very interested! More so than the aluminum one offered in another thread.

Cool. Been doodling and working up some dimensions.

I can't say it'll be to the mm screen accurate, but I can assure you it will be one big block of damascus and heavy, which... I mean honestly, isn't that what we all want out of a prop?

I'll see if we can get the etcher to leave the finish smooth so we have the best of both worlds, smooth finish on the outside, but visible lines on the piece.

Thanks!
Chris
