I'm three episodes in and wanting to see more...
However, there is one thing that bugs me, breaking the fourth wall for me: Some of the shots of Kyoto are too much as if they were taken out of a tourist brochure.
One reoccurring shot in the show — on the road home from the grocery store, with a pagoda at night — is one of the most photographed motifs in Kyoto, maybe of Japan ... and there is
not such a grocery store nearby in real life.
I also recognised right away the street where Mixxy's bar is supposed to be located.
These specific areas are also suffering from over-tourism right now, with newly enacted regulations with stiff fines so as to help protect the locals from the worst tourist behaviour, so I would find the reasoning for these shots puzzling: It can't be product placement, and if not, then why?
BTW. The headquarters of Imatech (both interior and exterior) is the real-world
Kyoto International Conference Center. (That it could be repurposed into an office building in the future by an entity with enough cash is not as implausible ...)
