Beetlejuice 2

All I was saying that we don’t know about the how and why of Beetlejuice in this film yet. Just because we’re not seeing he’s not going overboard like in the original film doesn’t mean that Keaton is being lazy in his performance, and like I mentioned, it might be possible Beetlejuice might have had some off screen character development in the time we’ve last seen him. He might still be a trickster demon, but in the time between the first and second film, doesn’t mean he might still be exactly the same and may have softened up in certain places in his personality.
There's that and the fact that Keaton is much older now and probably can't quite conjure the same energy he had when he filmed the first movie.

It would be cool to know, that all his scenes in the trailer were his tamer ones, and in the the actual film, he was still super manic as ever.....but....we'll see later this year.

I'm wondering how they are going to write out Baldwin and Davis' characters. I can understand why Alec wasn't asked back for a role in the new film, but maybe we will see Gina somewhere/somehow?

I read an interview with Davis where she said it wouldn't make sense for either of the Maitlands to appear, since there was no aging in the afterlife & they were dead in the first film.

While it probably doesn't make since to bring her back, especially with him not coming back....you know with all these writers, that if they DID want to at least bring her back, they would find a way.
And actors saying they are not in a film...well, I think back to Andrew Garfield and Toby McGuire with that last Spider-man film....declaimed up and down they weren't in it, only to be in it. OF course, that was a major contract type thing.
With her, who knows. It really could be either way.

Or maybe they figured out a way to work the afterlife bureaucracy and get out of being in that house for 125 years.

On that note: it looked like in the beginning of the first movie that given most of the cars and such, it may have been earlier than 1988 when the Maitlands died (like maybe the 50's or 60's), but I may be remembering it wrong.

I suspect that the bureaucracy may have collapsed, or there may have been a major regiment change, which lead to changing of rules that might have included allowing Adam and Barbara to move on. But that's just me.

It's always amusing to see the rampant speculation and way out ideas you all come up with! But... Didn't anyone notice Monica Belucci's character is missing her ring finger?

Edit: I just googled the cast, and apparently what that implies is no secret. Carry on.

Yes, she is. In fact, I noticed that when they were doing the cast announcements in the trailer (and now, we know where that finger and ring Beetlejuice broke out in the first film while trying to marry Lydia actually came from).

After watching the second trailer, I am super stoked to watch this in the theaters. I know it’s a ways off but I must avoid spoilers from here on out as I would like to watch it knowing almost nothing about it.A little premature but I am planning on buying it when it’s released on BR.

Well, I saw the first showing I could yesterday and... It's good. Not great. Just good.

I'm not one to avoid spoilers, so I did see some reviews first. I agree with one that suggested the Dafoe and Bellucci side stories could have been omitted without impacting the overall narrative. Although one did reveal Beetlejuice's origins.

Overall I'd give it 7 out of 10.

I am not able to go until maybe some time next week, my friend told me to brace myself and not go in expecting much

As long as Ortega is in it I’m going to be basis lol
