Agreed. This seems like the best idea, send the mods or just a random independent person once of each and they can post pics of them together.

It's too damned hard for 2 different people to match up photos and camera angles and lighting when you are taking photos to show "proof" of recasting or how you haven't recast anything.

I'm a member over at KTTC and Cristian's right about Jants thinking he's a expert on all things "Jack". When I called him on something he sent me a threatening PM and told me to back off. I didn't want to get banned so I dropped it. I'm glad peeps here aren't intimidated by him and have the integrity to call him on whats clearly wrong. Someone said Jants didn't honor the code...Agreed!

Any of the meticulous, eagle eyed Vader gurus would be able to tell you quite emphatically. While i don't presume to have any of those guys expertise, it's clear to me that the items are identical. Regaedless of eye pinholes etc. They share the same lineage.

I cant even believe that this is still going on. We watched this guy do this show hes doing now, steal peoples money, pretend to sculpt things or actually have any proof that hes capable, pretend to be someone he is not for years on many other forums that he is now banned from. The exact same way, posting big pictures of himself in threads( I mean really bro), saying its his last post 30 posts in a row, attacking others, its not like that behavior doesnt reflect on the current situation. Anyone who has worked on jeweler type props like this in any serious nature can tell those pieces are the same. If I poke some holes deeper in the eye of one it doesnt change that the over-all form, size, subtle details are the same. Those pieces are obviously the same. It doesnt matter if you run and do a clay press those pieces are the same in those pics. Anyone who has the ability to remake an item so closely would have many years of experience that he could realistically show of that level of CAD like capability. Especially a guy with an ego as big as this guy. You would see pics of sculpts left and right. He would be flaunting pics of his great making abilities as each piece was done before molding and after yet there are non of these pics here. And in all these years there have NEVER been pics like this.

So basically how when a guy whose behavior simply from this issues posts alone is so egotistical and self absorbed, I mean look at the centerfold pics, how come that on all of the other forums or even here now there aren't any progress pics of him doing these pieces one by one to show what a great artist he is. A guy like this would post progress pics some where. I mean the pirate forum is a forum he went to right after being kicked off the Bat forums to get his fix. How come neither on those forums or even here as proof, there aren't any hard core progress shots of the work? Of any work that shows he could match every subtle detail and size of the pieces. Or any work of this level....ever...period. Why would you feel the need to accuse and bull**** and make issues of a recast is a recast if you were an innocent talented established artist. How is this still going on?

I don't need to recast Cristian...but may aswell have, since I'm getting accused of it anyways and I came so close. Oh and as for "sculpt in the area you drill out), I don't even get that. Making an unclean dent with the end of my mini scraping tool to mark where I am drilling out, isn't sculpting where I drill out.

Really? I would say that that is the exact same thing, and seeing how that mark coincides with the hole in the OP's coin that makes it suspect to my eye.

Now you have had issues in the past and I have to ask, seeing that you are such a great sculpter and can match a screen item without recasting, why add that area. It would have been easier to leave it off and drill each by hand thus leaving yourself a "tell".

I think both Janty and the OP should send an admin a coin AND a return envelope so one of them can post pics and come to a judgment.

Now onto the coin comparisons. Everything in red shows differences. Not the same, but very close and in a sense, I'm stoked that people think mine is a direct recast. Means I did a pretty good job.

The "differences" are created by lighting and a variance in finishing techniques, but anyone with an eye for 3d could see that they are (like clancampbell said) of the same lineage.


And you're trying convince us it is different sculpt, telling us the similarity is negligible... capitalizing on the varied lighting and the *highly flawed* technique of squiggly red lines?

Janty, you got kicked off of the BOTB for this same kind of arguing. (Not necessarily because of the accusations, but your method of defending yourself is so blurred)

I can't deny that whatever it is that you do, you are good at it... but what I don't understand is WHY do you keep falling into the same routine?
Did you never learn that honesty is the best policy? Your method of arguing (diversion of topic/ blame, with-holding information, questionable 'comparison') will only continue to drag you down whenever stuff like this happens. In all the years I've watched drama unfold with you, I can not for the life of me understand why you continue to pursue those methods

I can't post more pictures at the moment cos I'm not at home ( I'm touring with my band ) ill be back home tomorrow nite , then I'll put more clear evidence , at least the uk sparrow community and sparrows around Europe sent me their support . And I'm really happy to announce some sparrows in USA are sending me their support as well . At least the Europe Market is closed for him, and he knows if he sell these items here ( uk and europe ) im gonna end it out with them in my hands and is gonna be clear evidence of his re-cast .

I have to say - as a KTTC mate of both you guys - I'm very sorry to see this. There are a few people on those boards who can undoubtably go **** themselves, but you too have always been held in high regard - so this is sad to see.

I can't say for certain if Jants is guilty in this circumstance, but his generosity and genuine kindness has helped me greatly in the past; it was his generosity that allowed me to afford the billion dollar boots my aching feet needed when I just simply couldn't afford them. He's been there during my battles with the KTTC admins and a brother in arms all around.

Cristian - I have a great deal of respect for your work and I 100% understand you on this. It does appear to be a recast from my eyes - and by now the only way for Jants to come clean is either to show the original sculpts he did - or fess up.

I didn't want to get involved in this, but it is a matter I have seen both sides of.

I don't think anyone works harder to be the first to find, the first to know and the first to post new Jack and POTC information than Jants does. He certainly knows the character obsessively well, and Depp also. I can't believe he would risk his reputation in and losing the respect of the Jack Sparrow community over a handful of trinkets.

Maybe he did it out of desperation for either money or attention or both, IDK, Cristian has been making quite a few waves in the popularity pool lately. By looking at the posted pictures and things pointed out in this thread by RPF members with the expertise, experience and the Eyes to Know a recast when they see it, I do think that Jants recast the pieces he got from Cristian.

I'll most probably suffer his wrath for posting this, he does like to strut and threaten, but that's okay, I've suffered his wrath before and survived. And at least on this forum there are members with cojones enough to stand up to him and speak the truth.

However, time and time again he lacks definitive proof to support his innocence in the matter.

What bolsters Paploo's argument for me, is knowing that Jants has gone through controversy like this before. One would assume that if the accused was indeed innocent, they would take certain cares to ensure that they had proof of all future and ongoing works. (Pictures of W.I.P.) That Jants still has not, and does not provide pictures likes this makes me think that either
a: He is in fact recasting and cannot prove his work. (The more evident conclusion, in this case)

b: He is in fact, "that good"... but is habitually bad at documinting his work for purposes of validity/ownership. (Which circumstantially, makes him more vulnerable to claims of re-casting.)

I can't question that Jants is an asset to the community... but I'd hate to see the "little white lie"/"butterfly effect" occur once again in yet another community...

I so rarely venture into the costume area...

I am first, very surprised that any prop man worth anything would allow a friend from the set (whatever that means) to borrow pieces and cast them prior to the film's release.
These are from the forthcoming movie, right?
If not, well then pieces are all over already and it doesn't much matter, I suppose. Otherwise, it's a great way to get yourself into a new live of work, out side the realm of props!
I don't have a dog in the fight, as they say, but the coins look like a coin and recast to me, for sure.
I have always wondered the same thing though, when two people are copying the same item and both get really close and one accuses the other of recasting.
Well, they are both shooting for the same target.
In this case though, with one piece being a copy of a real prop and the other said to be sculpted from scratch using reference material -- it just looks like recasting.

With only blurry pictures in different lighting and pointing out differences that appear to be primarily the removal of material on one versus the other, no WIP, it looks like an obvious copy.
The ony one who knows and can clear it up is the one being accused. He could take the one he was sold and his own piece and line them up very carefully.
He has chosen not to and also stated that he made his last post on the subject (repeatedly.)
I'm no psychic, but I think I see a banning in his future...
