Battlestar Galactica Documents

Hi Daniel,

you also copied the spelling mistake: Caine is spelled without the "e" at the end. I made the same mistake with my version.

Dietrich

Should I fix that as well? Or should I keep the "e" in Caine, so that it's more screen accurate?

CB2001, looks great. I find that there are many mistakes on the original docs. Both spelling and grammer. I usually correct them. It bothers me and I don't care if it is accurate to the screen used prop.

Anyone get original paper props from the show?

Thanks, Coop. I wish I could say I had some, but I don't.

Honestly, I've been trying to find a high res picture or scan of the "Mankind Meet Your Mother" National Geographic cover. I did find one picture that is excellent, except that the person who took it used a flash and in one section it's lighter than the rest of the cover, but it's a first step in the right direction.

Also, I've been looking for a good, high quality scan of "Lest We Forget", the "unknown soldier" poster seen in the show. So far, I've found large size, but not so great in quality scans of the picture.

Need some help. Does anyone know where to have file folders printed? My printer is too narrow and the local print shops wont do it. I want to put together some "personnel files" on characters from BSG like this one:

I also would love to know where they purchased the brown folders to make the original props. My searches have turned up nothing.

ALSO, does anyone know where to get the ADAMA lighter engraved? My local engraver does not have the proper font (outline version of "Diskus").

Thanks for the help,
DBCooper :confused

I would like to know too. I tried to find a store down here in Winter Park that had them, but no luck on it (I checked Staples, OfficeMax and Office Depot). I thought it may be the new recyclable file folders, but they're too dark in comparison to the folder in the pictures.

Does anyone have the "Eversun" Logo? This is the best I could do.

I am trying to make the tickets and this would dress it up nicely.

Sorry that I can't help you in this case Daniel,

but I can add something.

Enjoy

Dietrich

no offense, but that's written like some video game briefing rather than a proper military style briefing. either that, or a script extract printed off with a header.

a military tasking sheet like that is going to be written in short bullet point form with the main task and tactical points on it and nothing more and it certainly wouldn't be written out like an actual speech.

Well, Lancer, when it comes to replicas of documents, you go off of what you have. I am not sure if Dietrich was basing his "Assault Briefing off an actual paper prop like I have with some of the replicas I've done, but I can tell you, even having to have made an original paper prop for a short (it was an eviction notice), you use what you can to add in fill, especially for text for books or newspapers (I knew I needed to have three paragraphs of text for the eviction notice. The first one was what you would normally have on a real eviction notice, while the other two paragraphs were a mix of quotes from both "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "The Big Lewbowski"), UNLESS the text is important and needed to be seen (i.e. the Number 23 Book from "The Number 23"). So, it's possible the prop department has done the same thing occasionally.

Lancer, that is the actual text from the actual prop. Look here:

You would be surprised at some of the text for these documents. The "Armistice Protocols" are copied from the "Kyoto Protocols" (some one else found that out, not me). There are also terrible spelling and grammer errors and sentences that just end.

CB2001 is right, you just fill text with what looks good and fits. If it isn't going to be seen who cares. I had to fill three pages of text for a letter from a GI in Pearl Harbor just before the attack for a short I was working on. I used text from the Bible.

DBCooper- Dude! That ticket is awesome! I hope that's available for sharing. Wouldn't mind having it in a paper prop collection. :D

Also, I'm glad to see that someone else has had the experience of having to create the fill-text for a paper document. Honestly, if there's one thing I've learned, the only time the text isn't just fill is if it is important to the story. I cite "The Number 23", where we see pages of text that Jim Carey is reading on the page and in voice over narration. But then, there are pages that we don't see that also has text that show up later, but we never hear in narration.

I should know some about "The Number 23", as the book from the film was one of the props I've considered on making a replica of, but lack of information about the hero prop and what was in the pages not shown on screen would be difficult to recreate accurate.

Saw this on Ebay and was wondering if anyone has been able to isolate the logo of the person jumping. I only have the "paint" program that came with my computer. This is a pretty good image of it.

Here is a link to the original listing.

I wanted to try and reproduce this and the logo is repeated inside the trifold flyer. I belive once in red and once in black.

That is great. Thank you so much PhoenixVader. And fast, too.

I am going to get to work on the text, I think I remember Tigh reading apart of it. The rest can come from the other flyers.

Will keep you up to date. Thanks again.

Cmdr.Kerner, that is an excellent idea.

Cooper, if you check the auction pictures, there's one of the document that Tigh reads where the text is slightly visible and readable. May be worth checking out.
