Battlestar Galactica Documents

I would like to start a new topic to assist in reproducing BSG Docs. There are enough pics of them on line, i.e. propworx and the auctions. Most are incredibly easy to do.

This document for example. It has elements that appear in every incarnation of this form. I am having trouble reading some of this. Most is clear enough but the areas indicated with the numbers are fuzzy. I thought if some one own a real copy or can read it from a clearer version or even clean up this one. It would help in reproducing the entire line of docs like this one.

1> This entire paragraph is hard to read, plus there seems to be a box and a line of text below it.

2> Another paragraph of text.

3> A line of characters, I think some random numbers or letters?

4> Another line of characters, I believe there may be some words here.

5> These three boxes have something above them. >>>NEW INFO - I have figure these out. The three boxes have these three words above them "OP. SHIP FLEET". If you look at the top of the COMBAT AIR PATRO - PILOT REPORT, it has these same three boxes but larger. The props guys used portions of each of these forms over and over, even lists are repeated on other docs. I also saw a close up on one of the PROP RELIC CARDS.

6> NEW>>>
REPORT ALL DISCREPENCIES WITH MISSION LOG-DATA
AND THIS TRANSCRIPT TO CIC OR TRANSMISSION
ARCHIVE OFFICER USE FORM ????

Not sure of form #?

Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and I am sure others who might be working on this project. It is my goal, obsession really, to recreate every paper prop on this show.

Cmdr. Kerner, again a great prop. This is the sister page to Athena's Assualt Briefing. A great match. What is the font used on the main body? I have found some I believe are close but not exact. It is not "Enigmatic" is it?

I always look forward to your posts. They give me inspiration.

Thanks Daniel,

the font for "Aussault Briefing" is called OCR-B 10BT and the part in the middle is written with BankGothic MdBT.

Cmdr. Kerner,
Thank you for the font info. I was close.

I think I have the 3 lines on the bottom of the Flight Ops form.

REPORT ALL DOCUMENTS WITH MISSION LOG-DATA
AND THE TRANSCRIPTION OF TRANSMISSION
TO THE OFFICER STATIONED ON DUTY

Not 100% and not sure of the font. I am most comfortable with the top line. Line 2 I know ends with "on" and I can make out an "A" at the beginning and "of" as well. The 3rd line looks like it ends with "duty" and I am positive the word "officer is in there. With this I put this together. It seems to fit. Might be a starting point for some one else who has a clearer pic or and actual doc.

I'm actually considering on doing the transfer orders, I'm assuming its from the "Pegasus"/"Resurrection Ship" storyline, that I've spotted at the auction. The only thing I think would be difficult to replica is Adama's signature.

Not hard at all. Just trace it onto a blank page and scan it in to your computer. Adama's sig is easy, Cain's sig is a little more difficult.

Those are excellent PhoenixVader. Lifted right from actual page.

Here is my traced and scanned signature.

I did it in blue. This gives me some options. If and when I create some of my own docs I can easily go from blue to black.

Nice sig captures, guys! Thanks. :D

I'm also considering on doing the Colonial ID I spotted in the auction pictures too (I may do it, leave it open to where people can put their own photos and add whatever name they may like to. If I knew how to, I'd make it a PDF so that users can add their own stuff without having to use Photoshop or anything like that).

Hi Daniel,

that's a good idea. If you need vector files you may use the ones which I uploaded on this website: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/search/99086184/

Thanks for the heads up about the Vector files, Dietrich, but I've already got them. I had to install the CoralDraw demo in order to convert them from .cdr to JPEG (for some reason, when I tried opening them in Adobe Illustrator, it kept saying that the files were corrupt, even though .cdr was one of the file formats the program says it was able to view.

When cutting corners on the paper, what is the rule? How big is the angle? I have been using 1 1/4" on normal size paper and 1" on smaller papers. I measure in from the corner going along one side and then the other then cutting across both marks.

Any ideas?

Hi DBCooper,

I aleady made a few BSG documents and I realized that there is no rule.

Well, I don't know about rules, but I've heard some people say the corners cut are suppose to be at a 45 degree angle. I could be wrong.

I do know, from what I've read, that for the mini-series, though it was a joke, the cutting of the corners were only on certain types of documents that were meant to be classified or important ones, but then it changed to every piece of paper having no corners for the actual series itself.

I guess I am the only one working on this. I have found a new pic with section 1> and section 2> on it.

1> This paragraph appears to read as follows.

LEVEL 4 DOCUMENT ARCHIVE (SELECTION?)
(NOT) TO RUN DATA (SCANS IN) AND COPY
(PRIVLIGES) WITH REQUEST AUTHORIZATION

Words in ( ) are questionable, as close as I can figure.

2> This is for the paragraph directly right of the grey rectangle.

AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED TO DUPLICATE (PAGE) OR DISPLAY THE
(INFORMATION) . . .

That is all I have for now. My eyes are going buggy from reading the enlarged fuzzy text.

If anyone has originals, PLEASE let me know if I am correct or not. These sections are on most forms somewhere or other. Not asking for the info, although it would be most welcome, just a little guidance.

Thank you,
DBCooper
