Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Got in about 29 minutes on it this morning. My Saturday to work unfortunately. I really should have thought to pack up a few things and take this to work with me. It’s 6 hours of doing absolutely nodda

Engine pods pretty much done, started my eat forward along the spine. Got the aft guns placed but not glued in. I rat tailed the holes in their bases just enough that they press in tight and are movable and removable

A little bit more…
I made some alignment pins for the head and will attach it soon. The transition from the head to the body is off a little but I think I can patch it up a bit

Got a little bit more done today. Had to make a 4 hour round trip up north to get my car today. Gonna try to finish Galactica before I get myself immersed in the car for months

Its going to be tough not to focus on that car
Very true, I got a small mountain of parts in the basement
Made a little bit more progress today after I got cold outside and I couldn’t work on the car anymore. I’ve got the neck all ribbed up and the baseplate laid and the forward gun emplacements done. I figured out a new way to do my armor tiles and I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. Template the support plate and draw out the armor plates on the new piece and then chop them out. What I have to do though is go buy a couple of more exacto handles and get some narrower blunt, or flat faced chopping blades so I can make accurate cuts straight down. This should make doing the Pegasus, whenever that happens…much easier

I don’t know if it’s my phone or the connection but I’m having trouble loading these pictures

Sometimes my phone does the same thing... Other times there are no issues.

Anyway... Dude... I'm out of it for a little while and look at this! You've gotten so far with this thing. Almost there. I totally appreciate that the hardest part is replicating stuff you've done already.

Maybe call it a filming model for the time being, arguing that it's the reason for not having the other flight pod done?

I'm sorry for not supporting, I'm back now.

Now get back to working on it!

Not even, folks can’t hover over this all the time. It takes up a lot of my time but there’s no reason it needs to monopolize anyone else. It’s easier to keep build records on the site than to keep a gazillion pics on my phone and my laptop is a bit dodgy.
I’ll get to the post office Saturday morning, keep you posted

No rush brother... I'm back to studying for my diploma så I really don't have much time for other things than work, study and trying to keep track of my kids life... Oh and there's a wife in there somewhere too, at least last I looked.

Take your time, I'm still baffled that you even wanna bother with it.

This build is amazing. I can't believe you're doing it all in styrene, the cost must be crazy... oh my.

I can't remember, are you casting all the detailing between the ribs?

Yeah I’ve probably spent a couple hundred bucks on evergreen plastic. I bought 500 pieces of the between the ribs stuff on eBay for 80 bucks. Don’t need that many for this but I bought enough to do the Pegasus too. But that one has more armor on it so it won’t need as much. But they’re good to have regardless

For the Pegasus have you considered using plexiglass or mdf? On my Falcon build I've found that 3mm mdf is incredibly easy to sand even by hand.
