Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Love the cutaway Falcon!

As getting burnt out, you are nearing the finish line, but it may be worth it to take a little break instead of rushing to get done

Either way...

This is the last surviving picture of a cut away I did years ago. I gave to a friends autistic kid, he was really into SW

View attachment 1556384Thanks brother, that was some early work when I was just getting back into modeling. I’m sure I could do better now but after that one I said I’d never do that cut away again, lol
I probably got one if you want it
I think I had a couple of off days with Galactica, just wasn’t feeling it ya know. I think I’m good on it now. But once I get the car back you guy may not hear anything out of me for a while, of course your probably sick of me by now anyway LOL

thanks, but I still have a regular MPC and a Cutaway MPC in the stash

Seeing your build has given new found motivation though, especially with ideas for lighting

I probably won't bother with fixing the side wall heights for that build as the focus is really on the interior anyway

I’ve done extensive work on the mpc Falcons in the past, mostly with Tony 308 bits parts from Shapeways. It can get expensive. Anything I could make molds and duplicate, I did. Whenever I’d see the Falcons on eBay cheap I’d buy them. I still have like 4. Let me know if if you need any parts or mpc kits
Thank you very much that is very kind of you.

I'm not using any parts, mostly cuz it's impossible to get anything into the EU without it costing an arm and a leg to import. So it's mdf core, and focus on the proportions, for me... But it's a rabbit hole. Ultimately it'd be far easier to build the thing from scratch, than it is to correct both the proportions and the details.

Atm I guess I'll have to scratch all the major recognizable greebles, since I just don't have the time nor money for a 3d printer right now.

But I don't want to take away from this amazing thread, I have a build thread over at scale model addic. I don't dare show it off on this forum.

So back to your build. We will just have to accept a slower process when you get the car.

Well Tony, the designer of all the mpc goodies on Shapeways is in the uk. If you were to message him on the site he might be able to work something out for you. Just a thought. His store on Shapeways is 308 Bits

Well let me know, if I don’t have any of the repop stuff in my stash I can cast up a set for you. I still have all the molds

Starting to really look like something
You need to change the channel on that TV... No time to sleep!

Seriously dude, this looks amazing. I wish you'd drawn up plans of all the shapes... You could sell them as blueprints...

Imagine this thing build out of wood, like those amazing ship models!

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. I'll certainly have a look.

WOW, just WOW!! That last set of updates look amazing. This beast is so detailed and perfect. It's still mazing at how well you have executed this project. The ribbing and plating look so good.

Well thanks buddy! I gotta admit when I started this whole thing it was supposed to be done by Christmas, lol man was I looney!
I will say that it wasn’t until I talked with Eric Chu that I really took the deep dive into the details

Also and very important, all of my good buds here cheering this thing on made a huge difference…I don’t know if I should be thankful, or cursing you guys LOL

That is probably around the cost of buying Moebius Galactica now but the Moebius kit is is much less impressive and smaller

I'd say that is worth it
Yeah, I think with the PE I got the whole thing was about that.
I bought Pegasus as well but it was a bit less. Every time I drop in to hobby town for stuff this one dude always asks how it’s coming and wants to see pictures and occasionally asks how much I’ve spent on it
