Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Or he thought he'd have a better chance at convincing the government if he let one of their own try to convince them, since said general witnessed first hand the Superman was there to help ? Anyway, we clearly have a very different take on that movie, to each his own.

And I'm gonna leave this here, because I have to say Batfleck looks even more like a beast in motion (it's gif, you have to click on it) :

No. He was a bully. Good guys shouldn't show the world they're on their side by causing further destruction and telling them that it's his way or the highway.
Superman: Look. I'm here to help... but it has to be on my own terms. And you have to convince Washington of that.
General Swanwick: Even if I were willing to try, what makes you think they'd listen?
Superman: I don't know, General. Guess I'll just have to trust you.

Our hero ladies and gentlemen. He won't even talk to the leaders of Washington, or to the people of the world (Which was something Zod did) about his intentions.

Not because he thinks he's better than our leaders, but to avoid being USED by them. He's attempting to stay above it all, not meddle. He's not setting himself up as a God, he's trying to avoid being manipulated. It's incredibly heroic.

I wouldn't talk to them either.

Those soldiers with the El symbol, I bet that's unwelcome. I bet Supes is absolutely reluctant to be venerated. He's Dr. Manhattan. I'm sure this is all wearisome to him. But, we'll see. I could be way off. Maybe Supes is space Jim Jones in this one. Who knows? I'd dig that too, honestly.

I'd like to look at this from another way: what if Batman is warning Superman that there's potential threats out there, but Superman won't listen, so Batman demonstrates that Superman has vulnerabilities to prove his point? As they say, the people follow the power, which might be Luthor, turning everyone against Supes. Theoretically, lets say Batman is trying to guide Superman from the get go, trying to be another mentor to show him how to find his way. Batman can say: "These people need more heroes, you are capable of being their beacon of hope, you can turn their anger into something positive. There are enemies who want you taken down, they'll find ways to make you hurt. Tell me, do you bleed? You will. If you allow it. We can bring these dark times to a brighter day, ring in a new era of crime fighting, a dawn of justice." Then, lets say, Supes still doesnt want to comply and wants his own agenda, because he doesnt want anyone else to be held responsible for being associated with him and his actions. This is where Batman has to put his boots on and open a can of whoop@$$. Along the way, Luthor gets mad because Batman is bringing together a band of heroes, including the alien. Then Wonder Woman and Aquaman pop in and look at the camera. The Daily Planet makes a headline titled "Batman vs Superman: The World's Finest going head to head" but is rejected haha. This is just one possible plot i am thinking of, i had another but i dont wanna take up everyone's time lol.

You're giving this film way too much credit.

This suit is by far my favorite look for Batman, and I enjoyed the Nolan films and Burton's. Can't wait to see it in action!

DC really struggles to find the middle ground between "dark as all heck" and "neon, nipples, and bat credit cards".

Hahahahaha!

Poor DC. Avengers destroys NY, we love them. Nobody will call out Iron Man on fighting Hulk and ruining the city in Avengers 2. But Supes destroys Metropolis, we loathe him. Daredevil goes dark as hell, we praise their new grit. Superman goes dark as hell, we act like we're watching an "I love the 90s" special mocking goths (and wait, don't we all love the Crow?) Starlord kills the crap out of people, we cheer. Supes or Batman maybe kill someone? Our fingers start wagging and we break out the lecture on "heroes don't kill." I admit, DC has made some missteps (Green effing Lantern comes, sadly, to mind) but jeez.

You want a heroic Superman that hearkens back to the glory days of Reeve? Superman Returns is your movie. Oh wait, EVERYONE HATED THAT.

Sigh.

The start of this DCCU really feels like it's stuck in the movie "Dark City". I can appreciate a "grounded and serious" universe, but that doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be "dark and brooding" to achieve that.

I would hardly call that a trailer. It revealed very little about the story.
So I have my own theory...

The feel of it is the world (or city) is divided... some worship Supes as a god. Some fear him.
Some of the scenes actually make it look like Superman might taken the path of his Injustice version where he forces his will on people because he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, wanting to protect everyone, to make everyone work together and live in peace. His father's teachings (and fears) were not enough to prepare him for the amount of responsibility that is thrown on him. He doesn't know how to achieve the goal of protecting everyone and making changing the world for the better so he takes the path of force since nobody can oppose him. Like an over protective parent he smothers everyone and keeps them from doing anything so he doesn't have to see the same amount of death and destruction that he did when he fought Zod.
There's a scene that shows 4 Nazi stormtrooper looking guys kneeling as he floated down a ladder (into some kind of underground bunker?). They're wearing the S-shield on their shoulders. Kind of supports that theory a little.

Russian satellite? Again, forcing everyone to get along, maybe by disarming different nations?
BvS_2.jpg

The other screen cap with the people wearing skull make-up... I have no idea what that's all about.
BvS_3.jpg

Bats sees how things are going and doesn't like seeing his world under the oppressive thumb of an alien "god" and decides to take action.
So that's the "feel" I got from this dark trailer.

I couldn't tell who said the "Do you bleed? You will." line. I thought it sounded kind of like it has a electronic effect to it... so I don't think it was Superman saying it to Batman, but Batman saying it to Superman. That or Supes got hit with some bad mojo that corrupted him (and his voice)

One of the the voice overs about "The fever. The rage." is almost definitely Alfred (Irons). Getting Bats stoked up to lead a coup against Superman and his followers.
BvS_4.jpg
Looks like he's in his armored suit... holding a hammer or something?

The one that says "The devil doesn't come from beneath us, they come from the sky" (0:45) is almost definitely Lex Luthor (Eisenberg).

Interesting. I hear Charlie Rose, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Holly Hunter in the voice over.

Apparently the footage shown is for international regions, the US domestic IMAX version will be little bit different.

ZackSnyder: Cell Phone v IMAX. IMAX Event BvS fans will still be first & only to see special IMAX BvS teaser #AFewExtraShotsPlusALittleSwag #NotPirated

Haven't read full thread.
Don't much care for this film either way.

That said, I watched the leaked trailer and I just have to say:

"But do you bleed?"
- Frank Miller - The Dark Knight Returns

Complete with electric-Superman-fighting-suit-with-blue-electric-glowing-eyes.

This movie may not suck as much as I thought it might.
I might actually be looking forward to this.

Carry on...

I think its funny how some people have adapted to the trailers that give away the whole movie in a 2 and a half minute slot, most trailers give away EVERYTHING (termynatir genisys) and i like that this just showed us the two main guys and a buncha other side stuff. I think that its supposed to grab us making us wanting more (basically a long teaser) and excludes the best scenes, isnt that what they make movie trailers for afterall?

Well said. DC are really in a tight spot such is the plethora of super hero films at the moment. There's very little they can do except to try and grow their own distinctive "brand" by going "darker" at the moment. Lets be honest, "Batman and Superman become Best Mates over Lunch " isn't really an interesting story ,whilst by copying elements of the Millar story this could be quite good. Yes, I agree the overly "dark" nature of the trailer and the way its been put together is a bit disappointing but if they had copied the Marvel vibe they'd have been hacked down for that as well. The complexities of being a real Super Powered Super Hero living in the really modern world can be explored in many ways, Marvel have gone one way about it and DC are trying to find theirs. I didn't hate the last one,I thought it was a great new take on Superman and I think this one will be equally as good if not better. I guess if they had showed more of the action scenes ,rather than try and set up the tone of the movie people would have been better pleased, but give them a chance!

You're missing the point.
With the exception of Batman, DC heroes are GODS. They're infallible.

My earliest recollection of Superman was an old black-and-white serial I saw at my local theater when I was 3.
Clark Kent swerved off the road and crashed his car into a tree to avoid hitting a skunk that was crossing the road.
And in the George Reeve series (which I also grew up on) - Superman knew he was indestructible. Nobody could hurt him.
Empty your gun at him - you're not gonna hurt him. He knew that, and used it to his advantage.
He'd just let you shoot all your bullets, then he'd wrap a steel I-beam around you and wait for the cops to show up.
The Superman I grew up with wouldn't level an entire city block to kill (KILL!) one badguy.
He would have manipulated the fight into an unpopulated area, then wrapped the guy in a steel I-beam and waited for the cops to show up.

You want dark heroes?
That's why there's Batman.
Superman is supposed to represent what's RIGHT. Not what's GREY.
That's why my generation has a problem with Zach Snyder's Superman.
Superman doesn't make mistakes. Superman ALWAYS does what's right.
That's the whole point of Superman.

It makes me kinda sad that there's a whole generation of kids who won't accept good for the sake of good -
They have to have a psychologically troubled hero.
Like I said, that's why there's a Batman.
Let Batman be Batman, and let Superman be Superman.
If Superman isn't "dark" enough for you, then read Batman.

I don't know what else to say about this. You kids obviously just don't get it.
