We could debate this again and again. Some folks liked Man of Steel, some didn't - the simple fact is that the movie wasn't well reviewed by professional critics, it was better received by the audience and it did merely "okay" at the box office (at $290 million box office and a $225 million cost). Man of Steel squeaked by...
I am a Superman fan. I think Man of Steel was a poor representation of the Superman mythos, I think it was terrible movie following a trend rather than staying true to the character and principles. It's dark look is trendy, not realistic; their decision to retell the origin was just stupid and seemed forced merely to show a "darker" Superman willing to kill (which of course, they never set up any moral base for the character so the "shock" of killing Zod was utterly meaningless). Let's also not forget that one untrained Kryptonian took out an entire army of trained, killer Kryptonians - yup, much more realistic.
And... well, it's pointless. You liked it - great. I hated it. Time to move on.
