Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

No, he flew away from the city or at least the more populated part that was cleared from the planet maker machine and zod fought him back to the other parts of town. Sups 2 Zoe wanted revenge on superman, mos zodiac wanted revenge and so form a new krypton so he didn't care if people died. 2 different motivations.

We could debate this again and again. Some folks liked Man of Steel, some didn't - the simple fact is that the movie wasn't well reviewed by professional critics, it was better received by the audience and it did merely "okay" at the box office (at $290 million box office and a $225 million cost). Man of Steel squeaked by...

I am a Superman fan. I think Man of Steel was a poor representation of the Superman mythos, I think it was terrible movie following a trend rather than staying true to the character and principles. It's dark look is trendy, not realistic; their decision to retell the origin was just stupid and seemed forced merely to show a "darker" Superman willing to kill (which of course, they never set up any moral base for the character so the "shock" of killing Zod was utterly meaningless). Let's also not forget that one untrained Kryptonian took out an entire army of trained, killer Kryptonians - yup, much more realistic.

And... well, it's pointless. You liked it - great. I hated it. Time to move on.

The latest BvS rumors are that it will also have a Kingdom Come influence - Bats is semi-retired, patrols Gotham with drones, he and Dick Grayson aren't talking.

Superman II Supes sees the destruction his fight with Zod is causing and flees the area to protect the people. MOS he just keeps knocking things down. He's not smart enough or doesn't care enough to flee the city. He's just as guilty as Zod.

Exactly, crap film. Very "non-superman-esque". Like JD said, who cares, doesn't matter if the film is good or bad, if the studios want to make another, they make another.

The professional reviewers rank Superman Returns over Man Of Steel. 76% to 56% via Rotten Tomatoes - that's a huge difference. Now, the audience did favor MoS (but they're not professional reviewers nor is it by as wide a gap).

I find that I disagree with professional reviewers 90% of the time, so I personally don't give them much merit in terms if whether or not I will like a movie. I liked both SR and MoS in different ways.

You're forgetting the foreign gross, which was $372 mil. Batman Begins didn't even get close to those numbers. I'd say it did GREAT at the BO.

From Box Office Mojo:

"Unfortunately, lukewarm word-of-mouth caused the movie to collapse after opening weekend, and it will wind up earning less than $300 million at the domestic box office. Add in good overseas figures ($360 million and counting) and Man of Steel is absolutely going to turn a profit. Still, the much-publicized decision to add Batman to the Man of Steel sequel suggests that this wasn't the kind of runaway success that Warner Bros. was hoping for."

Again, I didn't say it bombed... I just said it did "okay," it didn't do "great."

There was no reason for Man Of Steel to underperform expectations - audiences are primed and ready for every Superhero movie that comes their way, unfortunately the WB chose the wrong people to make the movie.

I was watching Goonies last night on tv and the part came up where Sloth is taking on his evil brothers, then suddenly he rips off his outer shirt revealing a Superman tee he has on underneath and the music cues in a quick burst of the John Williams fanfare. You can't help but smile because that three second slice of film fills your head with everything good about Superman. Man of Steel didn't even try to inject one shred that recipe into their creation. In fact, they sort of went out of their way to avoid any and all things Donner already did and did right - unfortunately this also meant bypassing years of source material, moments and the very essence of the character. It's a little like what they've done to Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek films - in TOS Kirk instinctively knew what to do. The answers came to him because that was his gift - a natural leader. Like the line from The Motion Picture when Kirk is given back command of the Enterprise "Our chances of coming back from this mission in one piece - may have just doubled." Superman was once like that, he was top dog - he always always always knew what to do - and that's the way alot of people still like to see him. Returns had too many problems to list (and Routh being a terrible actor didn't help production) but it was the first movie where they robbed Superman of his natural ability to see solutions, not problems (thank you John Lennon). Man of Steel was worse in that the criminals brought Superman down to their level - he was fighting just as dirty, blowing up as many buildings and finally killing supposedly all in the greater good.

Both movies (Returns and Steel) wanted to knock Superman off his solid footing -- You can do that, but they went about it the wrong way. Now, if they wanted to take Superman into a area we've never seen. A place where he is in question of what to do every now and then, you HAVE TO give him a reason for being that way and to do that you must give the audience a few moments in his mind. How does he feel about where the world is. Does he still matter? What's it all for? So - just imagine -- if they had skipped a few years and during the first act Clark Kent had delivered a speech like this -- (caution for a little language)
Why America is NOT the greatest country in the world, anymore. - YouTube

Because what is Superman after all than just a metaphor for America.

Thats the thing tho Superman isnt just Donner's version. He made his version which was great but also had his ups and downs. Snyder/Goyer made their version and i can find myself in all the complaints btw, but i for one could look past it and just see this as a new version of superman which was far from perfect but was for me still enjoyable and will hopefully be changed a bit in the next movie(s).

I actually recently watched Superman vs the elite again and when watching that ending i couldnt help think of MoS and thought that this ending would have been maybe better suited. Altho i dint get as offended from the kill then alot of others tho :). Referring to your "bringing Superman to the criminals level" subject btw.

New rumored details for Affleck's Batsuit and info on his contract. He is rumored to have signed for MOS-2, JL, and a third film to portray Batman without the attachment of any other JL members as well as directing and writing said film. I will reserve judgment on the last until I see his version of Batman. Didn't say if his stand alone film would be a prequel to the JL film or an add on that does not include them.

They also stated that the batsuit will be a gray, mesh color with "Kevlar" woven in it like body armor, and a black cape, cowl, and military stylized boot. It will be a refreshing change to see a batsuit mimic that of Arkham or the comics. Here is the link below. Any thoughts?

Exclusive: Ben Affleck Batsuit Description For Batman Vs. Superman - Cosmic Book News

Great, I wonder if he will have repulsars in his palms and feet and talk to Geeves over his built in headset. Oh wait, wrong movie...

I don't see the link between grey kevlar looking suit and palm repulsor but whatever.
Sounds good to me, sounds like an Arkham design. Anything remotely close to either of the suits featured in those game is good for me. Also glad rumours indicate black with gray, not blue. Although a very dark blue could work, but anything lighter would look a bit to retro for me.

Not sure how this description translates to Iron man, but I guess it just shows you can't please everyone. Sounds to me like something close to Arkham while giving it a realistic style as well. Making it look functional. Would love to see a leaked photo to put the debate to rest. I just hope they don't mess with superman's suit like it has been rumored.

Ouch, rough crowd!:rolleyes

I'll be happy if they move as far away from BaleMan as possible. A grey and black suit would be great. Much more in tune with the comics.
