Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

SR was great.. and it didn't get a sequel, MoS was and is an atrocity and that gets a sequel :wacko mind blowing

You're kidding?? Right??

Super Stalker was better than MOS?? MOS had its flaws, but by NO stretch of the imagination was it an atrocity. Returns was garbage. No action and too much whining.

Kidding? Nope :D
Explosions don't make a movie, if they did then the studios could just release explosion montages :lol
Either way, dumping Routh was a major mistake.

I don't blame Routh for Returns. That's all Singer. I agree that the destruction in Metropolis was over the top, but how else are 2 Super aliens gonna duke it out ? It would be pretty boring to watch them slug each other over the Ocean.

How long has Warner and DC been planning a crossover? I mean it was even a giant billboard in I Am Legend.

I had not noticed this, of course it has been a while since the movie came out.

Time for a re-watch, thanks for the post :D

But an entire movie of him lifting things and getting his ass handed to him by kumar & co is. :lol

Maybe not superman...but we wouldn't have all these superhero movies today if he hadn't made xmen in 2000. So don't count him out entirely...plus DOFP looks like it will be awesome as well.

Superman Returns flopped, but look at X-men:Days of future past. Got to give him credit from what I've seen so far.

MOS may have had issues, but was still an amazing visual movie and did Supes justice. Room for improvement which I'm sure they will do in BvS, but Returns was horrible, bud. Stalking his ex, being a dead beat of a dad, flying around pouting. You think MOS was an emotional wreck, Returns was him crying most the time about not having anyone and spying on Lois. Creepy!!!

Superman Returns even with all its flaws is a better movie and a better representation of Superman than Man of Steel.

Yea, Okay. So Superman in the comics flys around spying on women? Pouting and whining? And a dad? The most action in SR was Superman getting the crap beat out of him by Lex Luthor.

still better than the mess that was Man of Steel. Just a few reasons why:

Another origin story - and a bad one at that. Riding flying giant lizards, skull "codex," swimming Jor-El, etc. And Russell Crowe's amazing accent.

Jonathon Kent's lame death.

Flash overs and voice overs equal poor storytelling.

All of Smallville seeming to know Clark's secret.

Most importantly, the entire movie missed the point - They never gave Supes the moral code he follows, making him killing Zod meaningless. Had they instilled the principles we expect from Superman, him killing Zod would've meant something. Instead we get a weak ending to a poor story.

The entire film riffs off of Nolan's Batman flicks with the belief darker somehow equals better or more real, when it doesn't.

I could go on, but typing on the iPad is a chore.

So jor el swimming means bad movie? And that's why it was called man of steel and not superman. He wasn't superman yet.

The professional reviewers rank Superman Returns over Man Of Steel. 76% to 56% via Rotten Tomatoes - that's a huge difference. Now, the audience did favor MoS (but they're not professional reviewers nor is it by as wide a gap).

Box Office wise, MoS out grossed SR by $90 million - taking into account IMAX, 3D and inflation (only 7 years between releases), they're not that far off.

If the Superman from Returns had seen Faora and Nam-Ek walking towards him he probably would have started to cry. :D

Reel

SR= Superman trying to find his way. Lots of thinking, not much action. A story where you care about the character and little about the villain.
MOS=Superman not being Super. Killing thousands with no thought of them. Lots of action, no thinking. A story where you actually feel and root for the villain.

Superman II Supes sees the destruction his fight with Zod is causing and flees the area to protect the people. MOS he just keeps knocking things down. He's not smart enough or doesn't care enough to flee the city. He's just as guilty as Zod.
