Batman Red Hood UK

I was going to say what Allfate and Judge Spartan said. Those are good suggestions. Another good thing is to redo another layer of bondo but make it really light and make sure the you don't get any air bubbles. Air bubbles get in there when you put it on thick. If you take the puddy knife and spread it on really thin and press hard, filling in the holes, then it should help a little. The holes that you can't get with the thin layer of bondo you can get touch up puddy that is really dark red for small holes to fill each hole and lightly sand down. Then you can get automotive primer filler and give it a couple of good coates then wet sand the primer to get a smooth finish. It's key to wet sand the primer after its completely dry with light grade sandpaper to get a really smooth finish.

thanks for the advice guys, I will see what I can get from the autostore(Halfords). Didn't realise about the airbubbles, and yeah I probably got carried away with the bodyfiller, too thick in places, I will try the wet sanding too.
will post updates later today or sunday.

You will see that wet sanding really smooths out the bondo. If you do it right, after fillingin the holes, you can get the bondo to be as smooth as glass. Wet sanding is really messy but also you have to get the right sand paper. You can't use regular dry sand paper. You will need specifically wet or dry sand paper.

hi, cheers for all the advice guys, I went for the puddy(putty stuff over here in UK) I will eventually post a pick of the brands I used if it helps other UK and evryone else if they have the same brands. The eye sockets are done and the groove to the eye sockets. just some more wet sanding and should be ready to primefiller spray tonight. I've tried to make it as simetrical as possible

the unfortunate thing with pepping is trial and error, the chaps on here and 405th have said sometimes you have to build original file size for helmets or armour to see where adjustments need to be made if too small or too big. The other thing if your patient enough during pep form is to cut the items down if it will not interfere with the detailing. The other thing I found is the helmet fitted in pep form, but because I didn't place any support inside when resinning, I used a heatgun to adjust the helmet for fitting. The guys have been really helpful with advice and tips, this is my first project, I've learnt alot and how to overcome bits for next time Hope this helps. Look forward to seeing your progress dude, keep us all posted

Very Cool mcoatsey. Thanks for posting the pics I asked. Looks good. Keep at the sanding I know when it comes to pepping you have to do ALOT of that lol

Yea this is also my first build. Thanks for the tip about support on the inside while resining. I myself don't want to deal toxic fumes of fiberglass resin so imma give Epoxamite a go. Still with fiberglass cloth of course. I also didn't score lines before folding so lines weren't that great but you live and learn :lol

Yea I was thinking of starting a thread with my build

Here's some updates, thought I'd get your opinion on the paint. I forgot to take pics when it was greyprimer and then used black silk spray afterwards. The helmet is just the first coat of Red primer(which I'm thinking of sticking with) but I have BMW Inola Red which I just did a patch spray on back to show you guys and get your opinion? this was my 2nd choice main helmet colour.
Also the update of my knife/sheathe holster.
I sanded for hours, but due to it being so close to thursday the helmet has defaults still, my apologies to yourselves for not getting it perfect( I've had to put my OCD in a box for now). plus I have my girlfriends Catwoman belt, goggles to finish too, its kinda been rushed to a degree

Looks good mcoatsey. You can always go back and re-sand more to get it smoother. I like BMW Inola red in the fourth picture. The red primer finished could be a little more red then orange but I like the mat finish of it. Is the BMW red mat finish?

The Bmw paint is a gloss I think but I have a matt clear graffitti spray to coat afterwards (for a lasting wear&tear protection) which will cut down the gloss look I think. I used the clear spray for everything I have done. It protects against the elements, found the uk site on ebay.

a glimpse of 90percent complete, need to reshape the lenses so when the foam is glued its flush inside, do glove plates, (not convinced I like the upper shin plates, worth a try). line the inside of helmet and put creases in the trousers :) . any feed back welcome

I've got ThoughtBubble convention in November in Leeds UK, will look at making improvements in the months running upto, my girlfriend says she can customize the jacket, & I'll improve the helmet finish too, plus I want to get some fake leather for the knife holster peice to belt loop. I don't suppose anyone know of you can get the pvc mirrored lense material in flat sheet form?

Buying a motorcyle helmet visor is the normal route, a single visor cut in half should give you more than enough for your lenses.
