Batman Arkham Asylum - Spandex Costume - Need Advice

I have been wanting to start work on a 1:1 scale Batman Arkham Asylum batsuit. I already have the belt, cape and cowl and I have even identified where I will buy my gauntlets and shin guards. What I haven't been able to find is a suitable grey suit.

I had the idea that if done correctly, the suit could look great if done in a lyrcra or spandex type material. Like any good hobbyist I want as much detail and accuracy as possible. I am looking for the suit to have the right texture, the rivets and the raised seams on the abs, arms, legs, sides and chest. I am also thinking about having some muscle shadowing printed on.

I have never worked with cloth, at least not on this level. Does anyone know anyone who would be able to take on such a task?

also, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

My suggestion would be build inserts to put under the spandex, giving it the shape and definition, as well as giving the rivets something to hold onto. you can use foam for them, I've seen superman suits done really well like that.

Thanks for the advice. I need to look into the foam... I currently have a lycra suit over a rubber panther suit and it does not have very good definition. That is why I thought about having the muscle printed on.

This costume was a one time deal for himself and I'm pretty sure he sold or traded it off.

I'm pretty sure he used a latex chest piece as the base and glued the fabric over it. Then made the side armor pieces and attached those.

I just figured that he did pretty much what you're looking to do and could give you advice on fabric type, tips on construction and making the armor pieces, where to acquire the chest emblem, etc.

I agree. He did better than I was even thinking. I will PM him for some advice. Thank you again for your help
