Just came across this on ebay during my weekly BTTF search. The Valterra skateboard that Marty skates to school in BTTF 1.
Universal Studios only made 25 of these boards!

[SORRY, NO LIVE AUCTION LINKS ALLOWED!]

And only minutes before the auction ended I was able to purchase one from that link for almost half that, at it's original price. Thanks Vivek!

Glad to help :). Still baffles me that people spending so much money on auctions, sometimes don't even consider to do a little research and some fact checking.

If anybody puts the keyword "Valterra Madrid skateboard" on Google it leads to this Madrid Skateboards Page website directing to the We're Going Back store. Also by buying from the store you are supporting a good cause, as the sale proceeds above cost are donated to Team Fox for Parkinson's Research.

Looks great, but it seems like they slanted the top artwork as well... wasn't that straight on the vintage Valterra boards?

The original boards had more to the artwork with only the letters at a slant. The board in the film has had the top grip tape redone at an angle parallel to the text extending over the edges of the yellow. It's my understanding these were off the shelf boards with mods and slanted.

There are 2 styles of this board.

1. Screen Used
2. Retail board

The screen used board was altered slightly between the filming of Stoltz and Fox, the board we created was based on the Fox board, which one of the original screen used boards was used as the template.

Some screen shots show the slant others do not. we used the slant on our since the retail board did not.

Its as close to the REAL deal made by the ORIGINAL company, with the supervision of loving superfans.

It really is a beauty. The stickers are REAL stickers. Many thanks to those involved. Tell us more odoc! Are there really only 25, and are the boards themselves numbered or is it just the COA? TBH I'm having a hard time not riding this board but I wouldn't want to damage such a well executed replica.

Any chance Madrid would sell sticker sets for those converting original decks? If I ever get all the black spray paint off this old beater it would really be amazing to have all 5 ready to go.

There are really only 25. I went down with Charles Kline and met with Jerry Madrid to pick up the first couple from the production so we could use one for We're Going Back. All 25 were on a rack there ready to ship. Plus we got to hold the real screen used board, which was cool :)

Took a couple screens of the board showing the slant cut and the only place I could find the straight cut is the close up of when hes hitching a ride from the truck. Maybe this is an early scene of stoltz or a stunt double?

I could kick myself. I remember walking out of toys r us when I was maybe 17 and seeing a stack of these things being sold for half off. If memory serves the box had "Back to the Future" written on it. i had the same thing happen with the Bad News Bears team box set back in the late 70's. It came with a small bat, hat and some other stuff - I had one in my hand but put it back to buy Superhero colorforms - that set is wanted now by certain collectors.

Just curious, but did anyone else here not receive a COA with the board? I had to call and will hopefully have it in the mail soon.

Don't sweat it Jet, I feel the same way about the Marty Shah Safari shirt rerelease and that was only last year. $188 on eBay. I'll wait for a ketchup stain.

See, I had one of the shirts back in 86 - I can't remember where I got it- Penny's or Montgomery Ward, but I had one. The boards though - I was already out of BTTF by then. I searched for the Guess jacket back then - nothing.I also looked for the Nike Bruins with no luck.I had a pair of black suspenders though. I remember this other nerd in school recognized what I was wearing and he called me Michael J Mexican - no one else caught on. :lol
