Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build NEW VIDEO JACKET pg 27!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

A whole month? Then you're really going to be frustrated with me. Sometimes I get pulled away from a project for TWO months, even THREE.

Seriously, it would be nice if we could always maintain momentum, but just because there are lulls in posts doesn't mean things aren't still moving, albeit slowly and sometimes behind-the-scenes.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

How's this for an update. I've been a plastic suppliers and it turns out the pieces I need will come to £350. Lame I'm now doing it out of timer (the bellows). More on that once I've laminated the blocks.
I am still going ahead with a machined mould for the belts/cuffs. And still, more on that later as we'll.
I have figured out the whole process of making this apart from the inner lining. I've tried contacting the designer of jacket but with no luck yet.
This project has become my life. Trust me, it's in my head all the time and being constantly worked on.

Keep ya posted.

I'm not sure if you've already said this Brad, but did you make the jacket from scratch or was it a jacket you found? It looks great!

Why would wal-mart change the name of a jacket? Weird.

I was actually the first person to use that jacket for this project. You can check my thread on the one I made and the ones that I am commissioning for people if you want.

Cuffs of jacket and the belt bit are the same size as each other. Just I hint ;)

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

I hope to have two really neat tests done later today. I've got my fingers crossed regarding on two samples that came in earlier this week...

I've got to work at my office for part of the day today, but as soon as I'm done with stuff here I'll be heading back to the house to lay them up.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

That be the one I was looking at. Cheers for the heads up.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Alrighty, I only have one of the tests done. I ordered some new samples from Plaskolite. They do have a true square primastic sheet. I'm not convinced the indention is deep enough though. I still need to mix up some material for that one since my first test was too thick and I got impatient :)

The other test was FAR more promising and I'll let the pictures do the talking.

I now have a really interesting concept for making a sleeve. Just need to talk a contact in order to figure out if it's even possible.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Gary, that looks awesome!

For the gray material, can't you just brush urethane into the mold and back it with a fabric material like the red material, either nylon, milliskin, or ...?

Also, I went to Lowes and they actually had two brands of lenses (or "troffers" as they were labeled): the Plaskolite sample you started with that had the elongated diamond shapes and a Metallux brand. The Metallux one had cells that were almost perfectly square like the new sample you have. Check it out if you have a chance and see if it's the same as the new sample you got from Plaskolite. The cells in the Metallux brand troffer may have more depth than the new sample you recieved, or maybe not. Could be worth checking...
