Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build NEW VIDEO JACKET pg 27!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

If real sleeves were to be made, would they be all the same textured material to make it all look matching, or would they stay true to the real jacket and make the bellows out of untextured rubber?

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

My idea would be for any replica to match the textures and appearance of the original jackets. This would mean smooth bellows and textured "flat" parts.

How those parts you go together and what materials they would be made from are where I'd have the greatest changes.

Heck, if I had it my way and were actually looking to make these - I'd go though the effort to make a mold for the complete jacket as a gray body and then just apply the red parts, the pocket assemblies, the waist/cuffs, and interior lining.

But I'm not building a jacket...

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Honestly, I simply don't have the time. Between the family and office, I have little time to do these replicas anymore. The jacket tests are pretty easy becasuse they are just tests. Doing full blown jackets would probably take up to much of my time and resources.

Besides my last two projects here on the RPF were bushwacked before they were either ready or already at the Junkyard. Frankly, I don't need or want the aggrevation these days.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Great belt. tidy.I was thinking. Dangerous I know but bare with me. If I get the CNC plans draw up in solidworks of the cuffs, belt bit, squares on the sleeves, the black clips on the sleeves and the belt. Have them CNCd into a slab of nylon all together. So I would have a master mold of the lot. Would you guys fancy chipping in on the cost of the cncing? Obviously I would sort you all out with as many casts as you need of the full set. Or better still I could send you all a master copy of the whole mold. Would this be of interest to anyone? I could make your masters out of fiberglass, then you cast till the cows come home. Oh I missed the plastic clips round the top of the pockets. I'm not sure how much it would be but I got a guy finding that out for me as we speak. Any interest?

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

got an idea of how many people and how much each? I'm interested, and I'm also interested in buying one of Gary's test pulls... :thumbsup

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Not yet,but will do. And the amount of each person depends on how many want in on the action. Not sure how long it'll take me to draw it up in solid-works but ill get there.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

All solidworks drawings done. Except the belt, which is only 50% done. Getting there. I'll post some pics tonight. This jacket is gonna be awesome. Every step, a little closer I get :)

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Bellow masters blanks. Just gotta glue em together, then they'll be ready for the lathe. Should be done this time next week. Then it'll be on to the fiberglass mold stage.

Here's all the 3D Solidworks drawings. took a bit of time but i got there. There all ready for CNC. Just gotta sort out a slab of Plastic or Alu and get price for job. :)

these are not to scale in this pic. some have been shrunk or enlarged just to fit in.

Are you doing the Red checker pattern inside the round holes and the "belt buckle"

Yes. They will be put into the casts after. Scored red vinyl inserts. I've left enough room in the cavity's of the belt ends for vinyl and switches for the electronics and light.
