Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build NEW VIDEO JACKET pg 27!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

I don't think he has ever told us how he did his.

Someone might want to reach out to him to ask for advice, methods, etc. Unless he's one of those jerks who likes to keep that kind of stuff a secret for no reason.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

I don't think they would be accurate enough to warrant that price. The real bellows sections were compressible to the point where the high points of each "ring" virtually touched each other when compressed. These are made of a silicone that appears to be a little too thick to allow the sections to compress as much as we would need.

MrFusion, that would be awesome. There are commercially available sources for custom rubber bellows that could be used directly and dyed gray, but most are expensive and have a long lead time and/or minimum order quantities that put them out of reach. How are you deciding the overall shape, as far as the outside diameter of the large ring, outside diameter of the valleys/small rings, and angle of the transition from large diameter ring to small?

Hey guys, totally of topic but I'm trying to finish all the boards. Has anyone got that PDF or AI file of the NO-TECH that was floating around.?? Would love a copy. Or maybe a point to who has got it. Thanks

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

PM sent MrFusion.

Tonight whilst making dinner, the packing that some ham came in caught my attention. It is a more heavy version of the pyramids on that mat that I used on my shoes. It is only small, but I will see if I can take a positive impression off it and post it for feedback.

A negative impression would certainly be what you would want on the sides (EL) of the shoes and this sample is large enough for that.

CALL OFF THE SEARCH!!!!

Ok guys, prepare to be amazed. I've been thinking more and more about the main sleeve texture, and I think I was wrong about the material. Some great suggestions have been made to date, leather, taking a cast from ‘ice glass’ or acrylic. But i believe i have found the big cheese.
I could not get out of my head that I had seen this texture somewhere before and even held it in my hands. Then, this morning it hit me like a bolt of lightning in the head. About a few years ago I used to go Urban Exploring to all kind of strange places with one of my mates who now lives in OZ, anyway he had this pair of gloves that freaked me out because of the texture on the palms. So did a search for them...and bingo I think I've found it. Now this really is it, perfect match. And its rubber. Well happy
I reckon, contact a company that manufactures them and ask how they achieve this texture. If they don’t want to divulge the info, buy a pair and go crazy with some moulding up.
Anyway check out my pictures below for reference, tell me what you think.
Epic Win!

Rubber over wool? That's cool and would solve the lining issue as well :) Good find.

No need to be mean Mitas.
I think i remember that he sold/sells them, thats a good reason.

I meant no disrespect. I don't know him, so I don't know if he is a good guy or not. I was just saying that if someone tried to contact him in the past and got nothing from him then we shouldn't try again because we might get the same.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

.........Anyways :rolleyes

Those gloves should be kevlar cut resistant gloves. So, not 100% rubber. I could be wrong but we use those type of gloves day in and day out. The texture is just that, a texture. You can pull it from anything and add it to whatever material we want "if" we create it ourselves. You could accomplish this by rolling out a big sheet of clay. Then, take said texture and press it lightly into the clay evenly all across it. Then do a light silicone pour over that to make a texture sheet similar to the light covers. Then you can pour your rubber, latex, whatever and create sheets of your custom material. There are better ways i'm sure but there just one :)

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Just tried taking a pull off a bit of scrunched up tin foil. Pretty close.

Not a bad idea. There's prob an unlimited amount of things with that pattern. In truth though, it's not that visible from passerby's. The bellows in the sleeves and red pattern are the attn getters.

That what i used on my sleeve test before....

I scrunched up tinfoil and then flattened it out again, Poured Latex on it and when it had dried i pulled it away.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Genius!
This is exactly the kind of ways they would have done this. They work with what they got.

In the case of the gloves, I would suggest the texture is what happens when the rubber partially soaks into the weave of the wool. It forms a skin with hollows, hence the texture.

So we would just need to make a thin wool jacket and layer it with rubber?
