Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

Tony Stark did refer to "life models" early on. Could that have been a life model of Coulson? That would fall in line with something Nick Fury would do.

But then why would he stand over him as he 'died' telling him to hang on etc? I think he's dead

I think it could be. Besides, we can't be 100% sure he actually did die. Fury did take his prized Captain America cards that were near mint non the less and put some son of Coul blood on them to manipulate the team after all.

I seem to recall reding somewhere that the actor who plays Coulson has signed on for additional movies as well.

Well see, after all no one really dies in comics.

I just find it odd that Coulson was making some strange comments as he died.

I was hoping to see Coulson around to recruit the Wasp and Hank Pym for Avengers 2!

Read an interview where Clark said Whedon told him he'd make it out of Avengers okay. So one of them lied, or Coulson's death was faked.

I hope he is alive, and makes a return in Iron Man 3. He was such a cool character!

Joss Whedon

I never liked Buffy or Angel.

I know this must be blasphemy around here, but I thought Firefly was terrible. It felt so fake. I'd rather watch old Buck Rogers episodes with Gil Gerard.

Dollhouse was pretty good. It had potential.

The Avengers? WOW!
I don't see how it could have possible been any better. I knew I was going to like it, but I am so surprised at how much I like it.
Does it get any more difficult than trying to make this movie? I still can't believe how well he pulled it off!

I wonder if he didn't live but Fury tossed it out that he died as a way to push the team together.

I wasn't too enthusiastic about The Avengers because of the movies leading up to it. With Iron Man 2, Marvel seemed more concerned setting up The Avengers than focussing on another good Iron Man flick. And Thor? I'm not into comics and the idea of a god featured in a superhero flick seemed so off to me that I didn't even watch it. To my surprise I really liked the Captain America character, but the movie was just meh. And of course they couldn't leave the door open for another WWII Cap flick, since he had to be in this damn Avengers movie. I was so pissed that at first I didn't even bother watching a teaser/trailer for it and when I finally did, I thought: Great, there is this Thor guy ... and the bad guy from that movie, too ... oh, and there's an alien invasion :sick

For whatever reason (that still is a mystery to me) I still decided to watch The Avengers last Wednesday and I must say that it is just freaking awesome! I went home and ordered the artbook right away and feel the urge to go watch that movie again...

And I agree that the Hulk vs. Loki scene is just full of win (as well as that Hulk and Thor moment).

But still, since this is the spoiler thread, here is some nitpicking:
- So they do have a flying aircraft carrier with stealth technology ... but yet the flight-deck shows some terribly outdated planes.
- When the camera circles around the heroes: Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America ... and a girl with handguns as well as a guy with a bow :confused
- To me the Aliens didn't leave the impression that the military couldn't have handled them (albeit probably not that fast).
- Even with a $200 million + X budget, Marvel still converts to 3D instead of shooting that way from the get-go.

By the way: Is the Alan Silvestri Score only available as a download?

DC can't make movies, they should quit trying.

The Dark Knight Rises trailer I saw with Avengers sealed it for me. Wait for the video.

Saw it at midnight last night and again at a 12:30 showing today, both times in 3D. Loved every minute of it! Best superhero film by a long shot, hell it was probably the most entertaining film I have seen period. Best 3D I have seen next to Avatar as well.

In the scene where Cap and Banner just landed on the Helicarrier with Coulson, Widow tell Coulson he's needed on deck for the "face trace". Which leads me to believe it was a body double, which SHIELD is notorious for in the comics.
I was hoping that Thor would take Coulson to Asgard to put him in the healing room.
My one complaint, how could they kill off Coulson????? I loved that guy! That was a poor move on Whedon's part.
