Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

I thought this was a great Superhero movie. Everything clicked very well, I thought Whedon nailed it - juggling these heroes and the actors' ego could not have been an easy job... but, it sure seemed like everyone just gelled perfectly for darn good Superhero movie.

Sure, there are nits to pick and it wasn't a perfect film by any stretch (however, it was perfect for what it is)... but, man this flick worked on so many levels it's unreal. They nailed it.

There's a slew of moments to gush about or ask questions about.

Ruffalo might not be my ideal Banner. But, he was extremely adequate at it. He played the mild mannered bit to a tee and he echoed Bill Bixby at times. My doubts of him as Banner were erased.
While it comes off as a silly idea, the helicarrier sure looked amazing at it lifted up out of the ocean.
Black Widow just stole much of the show at times, it was crazy. ....and I don't think it was just because she was ScarJo (not that it didn't hurt).
I love that Captain America became the leader as he was meant to be by the end of the movie. He still talks in sound bites, but the scene were Stark told him it was his call... well, that just rocked (and the cop scene, lol).

"Better clench up, Legalos."
"That's the secret Captain, I'm always angry."
"Puny god."
"I don't see how that's a party."

I guess I just have one thing to ask. Maybe I missed it... but, did the Hulk have a reason why Banner was (more or less) in control during the finale fight?

...and yeah, destroying the mothership that stopped all the invaders is kinda played out. But, I guess they needed an ending. :)

Sorry, I'm gushing... this movie rocked.

So that's what he said. There was so much laughing no one heard.

It's an entertaining movie. I'd buy the video. But it tried a bit too hard to give everybody something to do.
Why exactly did Loki get captured? So they wouldn't be friends? LAME!
Hawkeye. He could have been left out with no change. Just use anonymous SHIELD agents for the same effect. [who had cool attack clothes]
Black Widow had to be a stunt woman or cgi for half the movie.
Paltrow? Why?

Coulson will be back. Fury said 'they called it'. But we didn't see it. He'll have a robot heart or something.

Worst part of the movie was the guy beside me STUNK. Dirty clothes, Body Odor, and drug stank. Theater was too full to move.

Perhaps it was because Banner finally let the Hulk out willingly that he was able to control it. He and Stark had that convo about using it not as a crutch, but as a tool and benefit, and Banner finally realized it. Banner probably didn't understand that's what he did when fighting Blonsky... that Hulk transformation was under control too because he wanted to let it out.

During the helicarrier scene, Banner probably couldn't control the Hulk because it was a transformation during an unwanted injury, and all the previous incidents Widow talked about were unwilling transformations.

Also, it ties together with the last scene of The Incredible Hulk, where he smiles and his eyes change, letting the audience know he found a way to somewhat control the process, as if through the meditation, he learned that it wasn't to stay calm, but to channel and maintain the rage.

After the dust settles we have to start a SAVE THE SON OF COUL campaign.

It's a comic book movie there are any one of a number of ways he lives.

Paltrow was in the movie for continuity. And she's really good with RDJ. She helps humanize him a little.

I don't know why ScarJo having a stunt double for half the movie is necessarily a bad thing.

Sorry about the guy you sat to who stunk. That sucks. Try seeing movies during mid-morning screenings. They're rarely full. No lines or odorous seat mates.

Oh he is alive, there is way too many hints that it was a fake. The face scan to open some door, the card convo between Hill and Fury and of course the "face-trace" comment.

:lol I went to the marathon. By mid day the darn place smelled like a mix of booze, drug stank, and acne medication!

Sorry guys, but he's dead, plain and simple.
I'm not sure... Fury's trick with the cards proves his willing to lie to get his way. Yeah, he said they 'called him' (or declared/pronounced him dead) over the radio - we didn't see actually see them do that. We saw a Phil he looked like he as going to die and thought he was going to... but, we didn't actually see the death.

That said, bringing him back (as a human Coulson) cheapens the death a little bit and sure would make the heroes distrust Fury a whole lot more than they already might.

I think we'll see him - not in the same way. I like the Vision idea to a point... but, I wonder how/if they could pull it off.

The only real problems I had with the movie were that I missed a lot of dialog because of crowd reaction to something that just happened and what happened to Phil. I was hoping the kicker at the end of the titles was going to show him talking to Fury.

And it sounds like they added the shwarma clip just before it was released in North America.

This was a great movie! I'll see it again next week. Now suprise RDJ stole every scene he was in. I thought Ruffalo made a better Banner than Norton. Everything was done very well with juggling all the different characters for screen time. Great action and comedy mix.

The Hulk & Loki scene :lol. I didn't hear what Hulk said 'cause the whole theater was laughing.

The Loki/Hulk stand-off could just supplant Indy/Swordsman for best stand off resolution ever.

And repulser blasts ricochetting off Caps shield. Never thought I'd ever get to see that on the big screen. I squealed like a little girl.

I've seen it twice now.

In the beginning, Pepper Potts is asking Coulson about someone, I didn't catch the name, but his reply is something about her moving to Portland, I think.

Anyone catch that? Not a big deal, just curious.

Pretty sure Coulson is alive. I think the paramedics resuscitated him, but Fury puts it out over the radio that he died, just to bring the team together.

I know right! It happened so fast I couldn't process it fast enough for a verbal response!
